Abeyance

Abeyance does not affect abilities which are not activated, such as static abilities and triggered abilities. It also doesn't stop the declaration of attackers or blockers.

Abeyance never prevents mana abilities from being activated.

Abeyance prohibits activated abilities of cards which are not on the battlefield.

This can't be used as a counterspell. It will have no effect on spells which were on the stack when it was cast, nor on those cast in response to it.

Until end of turn, target player can't cast instant or sorcery spells, and that player can't activate abilities that aren't mana abilities.

Cataclysm

If you control a permanent with more than one type, you can choose that permanent to be the representative of either type. This makes it possible to have more than one creature (or other permanent type) on the battlefield. For example, if you select a creature for your creature and an artifact creature for your artifact, you get to keep both of these creatures.

If you control a permanent with more than one type, you can choose that same permanent for more than one of the choices if you want to. This makes it possible to select an artifact creature as both your artifact and creature, and then select a land and thereby keep only two cards.

The current player makes their choices before the other player. After both players make choices, all the sacrifices are done simultaneously.

The permanents to save are chosen on resolution. You do not choose them when casting the spell.

Each permanent not chosen by a player will be sacrificed. If a permanent has none of the listed types (for example, a Planeswalker with no other types), it can’t be chosen.

Each player chooses from among the permanents they control an artifact, a creature, an enchantment, and a land, then sacrifices the rest.

City of Brass

If you tap City of Brass while you are casting a spell or activating an ability, its ability will trigger and wait. When you finish casting that spell or activating that ability, City of Brass's triggered ability is put on the stack on top of it. City of Brass's ability will resolve first.

On the other hand, you can tap City of Brass, put its triggered ability on the stack, and then respond to that ability by casting an instant or activating an ability using that mana. In that case, the instant spell or activated ability will resolve first.

The first ability triggers no matter how the land becomes tapped.

Whenever City of Brass becomes tapped, it deals 1 damage to you.

If you have no cards in hand, you still have to name a card. Then you fail to reveal one (since there aren’t any). Since the named card wasn’t revealed, no damage is dealt.

{3}, {T}: Choose a card name, then reveal a card at random from your hand. If that card has the chosen name, Cursed Scroll deals 2 damage to any target.

Note that the wording "Effects that alter the creature's power alter its toughness instead, and vice versa, this turn" has been removed.

Because damage remains marked on a creature until the damage is removed as the turn ends, nonlethal damage dealt to a creature may become lethal if you switch its power and toughness during that turn.

Effects that switch a creature's power and toughness apply after all other effects, regardless of when those effects began to apply. For instance, if you target a 1/2 creature then give it +2/+0 later in the turn, it's a 2/3 creature, not a 4/1 creature.

Switching a creature's power and toughness twice (or any even number of times) effectively returns the creature to the power and toughness it had before any switches.

{T}: Switch target creature's power and toughness until end of turn.

Emerald Charm

An ability that triggers when something “attacks and isn’t blocked” triggers in the declare blockers step after blockers are declared if (1) that creature is attacking and (2) no creatures are declared to block it. It will trigger even if that creature was put onto the battlefield attacking rather than having been declared as an attacker in the declare attackers step.

Whenever Goblin Vandal attacks and isn't blocked, you may pay {R}. If you do, destroy target artifact defending player controls and Goblin Vandal assigns no combat damage this turn.

Grindstone

If the two cards are both colorless, then the effect does not repeat. It only repeats if both cards have at least one color and at least one color is shared between them.

The process can repeat any number of times, as long as two cards that share a color are milled each time.

{3}, {T}: Target player mills two cards. If two cards that share a color were milled this way, repeat this process.

Hall of Gemstone

Although the color may be altered, any restrictions on the use of the mana are not removed.

Will not affect lands that do not produce mana.

This has the supertype world. When a world permanent enters, any world permanents that were already on the battlefield are put into their owners' graveyards. This is a state-based action called the "world rule." The new world permanent stays on the battlefield. If two world permanents enter at the same time, they're both put into their owners' graveyards.

Any colorless mana that's produced isn't affected.

At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player chooses a color. Until end of turn, lands tapped for mana produce mana of the chosen color instead of any other color.

Hammer of Bogardan

Hydroblast

The decision to counter a spell or destroy a permanent is a decision made on announcement before the target is selected. If the spell is redirected, this mode can’t be changed, so only targets of the selected type are valid.

Hydroblast can target any spell or permanent, not just a red one. It checks the color of the target only on resolution.

Incinerate deals 3 damage to any target. A creature dealt damage this way can't be regenerated this turn.

Generations of genetic weeding have given rise to the deviously cowardly Ironclaw clan.

Ironclaw Orcs

Ironclaw Orcs can't block creatures with power 2 or greater.

Island

Jackal Pup

Whenever Jackal Pup is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to you.

Karplusan Forest

Lobotomy

Does not affect cards on the battlefield.

If the player has no cards in their hand, you still get to look through their deck, but you do not get to exile any cards.

It exiles the chosen card plus all others in the hand, library, and graveyard. Some people thought the chosen card was not exiled due to some vague wording.

You only get to pick one card from the player’s hand.

The copies must be found if they are in publicly viewable zones. Finding copies while searching private zones is optional.

Target player reveals their hand, then you choose a card other than a basic land card from it. Search that player's graveyard, hand, and library for all cards with the same name as the chosen card and exile them. Then that player shuffles.

Memory Lapse

Memory Lapse has a self-replacement effect that replaces the spell going to the graveyard before any other effect can replace that event. If the spell was cast using flashback, however, flashback will change the spell's destination from its owner's library to exile.

Counter target spell. If that spell is countered this way, put it on top of its owner's library instead of into that player's graveyard.

Mogg Fanatic

Once Mogg Fanatic has dealt and been dealt combat damage, it’s too late to activate its ability before it’s destroyed.

Sacrifice Mogg Fanatic: It deals 1 damage to any target.

They'll attack whatever's in front of them—as long as you tell them where that is.

Mogg Flunkies

Although Mogg Flunkies can't attack alone, other attacking creatures don't have to attack the same player or planeswalker. For example, Mogg Flunkies could attack an opponent and another creature could attack a planeswalker that opponent controls. Similarly, other blocking creatures don't have to block the same creature that Mogg Flunkies blocks.

If an effect says that Mogg Flunkies attacks or blocks if able and you control another creature able to attack or block, you must attack or block with Mogg Flunkies and that creature.

If you control more than one Mogg Flunkies, they can attack or block together, even if no other creatures attack or block.

In a Two-Headed Giant game, Mogg Flunkies can attack or block with a creature controlled by your teammate, even if no other creatures you control are attacking or blocking.

Once Mogg Flunkies has attacked or blocked, it will remain in combat even if you no longer control another attacking or blocking creature.

Mogg Flunkies can't attack or block alone.

Mountain

Nevinyrral's Disk

You don't sacrifice Nevinyrral's Disk to activate its ability. It's destroyed as part of the ability's resolution if it's still on the battlefield. If an effect gives Nevinyrral's Disk indestructible or regenerates it, it stays on the battlefield.
