If you tap City of Brass while you are casting a spell or activating an ability, its ability will trigger and wait. When you finish casting that spell or activating that ability, City of Brass's triggered ability is put on the stack on top of it. City of Brass's ability will resolve first.

On the other hand, you can tap City of Brass, put its triggered ability on the stack, and then respond to that ability by casting an instant or activating an ability using that mana. In that case, the instant spell or activated ability will resolve first.

The first ability triggers no matter how the land becomes tapped.

Whenever City of Brass becomes tapped, it deals 1 damage to you.

Lobotomy

If the player has no cards in their hand, you still get to look through their deck, but you do not get to exile any cards.

It exiles the chosen card plus all others in the hand, library, and graveyard. Some people thought the chosen card was not exiled due to some vague wording.

You only get to pick one card from the player’s hand.

The copies must be found if they are in publicly viewable zones. Finding copies while searching private zones is optional.

Target player reveals their hand, then you choose a card other than a basic land card from it. Search that player's graveyard, hand, and library for all cards with the same name as the chosen card and exile them. Then that player shuffles.

The bigger they are, the stronger its pull.

Meekstone

Creatures with power 3 or greater don't untap during their controllers' untap steps.

When you sink a lot of ships, it's easy to find sunken treasure.

Merfolk Looter

You can't do anything in between drawing a card and discarding a card, including casting or cycling the card you drew.

Misdirection

If there is no other legal target for the spell, this does not change the target.

Once the spell resolves, the new target is considered to be targeted by the deflected spell. This will trigger any effects which trigger on being targeted.

The target of a spell that targets another spell on the stack can be changed to any other spell on the stack, even if the new target will resolve before the spell does.

This does not check if the current target is legal. It just checks if the spell has a single target.

This only targets the spell being changed, not the original or new target of the spell it is affecting.

You can choose to make a spell on the stack target this spell (if such a target choice would be legal had the spell been cast while this spell was on the stack). The new target for the deflected spell is not chosen until this spell resolves. This spell is still on the stack when new targets are selected for the spell.

You can’t make a spell which is on the stack target itself.

You choose the spell to target on announcement, but you pick the new target for that spell on resolution.

You may exile a blue card from your hand rather than pay this spell's mana cost.

Opposition

Once a player announces that they’re casting a spell or activating an ability, no player may take other actions until the spell or ability has been paid for. Notably, other players can’t try to tap that player’s permanents to stop them from paying {T} or to stop them from producing enough mana.

You can tap any untapped creature you control to activate Opposition’s ability, even one you haven’t controlled continuously since the beginning of your most recent turn.

Spiritmonger

Activating the regeneration ability creates a replacement effect that acts like a shield, replacing the next time Spiritmonger would be destroyed that turn. This shield works against effects that try to destroy Spiritmonger or lethal damage that would be dealt to Spiritmonger.

Spiritmonger can regenerate even if it isn’t in combat, it’s already tapped, or it’s undamaged.

Spiritmonger’s last ability causes it to become only the chosen color. It will no longer be the colors it was previously.

You can activate the regeneration ability even if Spiritmonger isn’t at risk of being destroyed.

Whenever Spiritmonger deals damage to a creature, put a +1/+1 counter on Spiritmonger.
