If you cast a Squirrel spell that depicts a squirrel (as most do), you'd get two acorn counters: one when you cast the spell, and another when the spell resolves and the Squirrel enters the battlefield.

You retain all acorn counters in your stash until you spend them, even if you lose control of Acornelia.

Whenever you cast a spell with a squirrel in its art, you get {A} (an acorn counter).
Whenever a Squirrel you control enters or dies, you get {A}.
{2}{B}, Pay X {A}: Target creature gets -X/-X until end of turn.
{G}, Pay X {A}: Target creature gets +X/+X until end of turn.

Alexander Clamilton

Ability words themselves are not rules text, but they’re followed by rules text, so any line with an ability word will count.

Any line with at least one word of rules text counts as a line of rules text.

Some card layouts include rules text in different sections. Count each one separately. For example, “the battlefield” in the “pin-up” section of a host creature is counted separately from the first line of text of that ability’s effect.

There are a million things it hasn’t done, including count reminder text and flavor text. Those aren’t rules text.

This card’s name is Alexander Clamilton.

Whenever you cast a wordy spell, scry 2. (A spell is wordy if it has four or more lines of rules text.)
{1}{R}, {T}: Choose target creature you don't control. Reveal the top card of your library. Alexander Clamilton gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the number of lines of rules text of the revealed card. Alexander Clamilton fights that creature.

Angelic Rocket

Host creatures each have an ability that triggers when it enters the battlefield. It functions like any other creature.

Flying
When this creature enters, you may destroy target nonland permanent.

Animate Library

Animate Library can’t enchant your Contraption deck.

If Animate Library leaves the battlefield, your library goes back to being a normal library.

If your animated library becomes four libraries because of Split Screen, Animate Library stays attached to one of them of your choice. Only that one is a creature.

While your library is a creature, it can become enchanted or equipped, it can be tapped and untapped, and it can attack and block like other creatures.

Enchant your library
Enchanted library is an artifact creature on the battlefield with power and toughness each equal to the number of cards in it. It's still a library.
If enchanted library would leave the battlefield, exile Animate Library instead.

As Luck Would Have It

Any die roll with a numerical result will add luck counters to As Luck Would Have It. Rolling the planar die will not cause the second ability to trigger.

The check to win the game happens only as the second ability resolves. For example, if there are 99 luck counters on As Luck Would Have It and you proliferate to add a counter, you won’t automatically win the game.

Hexproof
Whenever you roll a die, put a number of luck counters on As Luck Would Have It equal to the result. Then if there are 100 or more luck counters on As Luck Would Have It, you win the game. (Count both rolls if you reroll a die.)

Avatar of Me

Avatar of Me is only the color of your eyes, not the color of your eyes and blue. That is, the color it gets from its last ability overrides the blue it gets from its mana cost.

If each of your eyes is a different color (naturally or via a single contact lens), Avatar of Me is both colors.

If you’re wearing colored contact lenses, Avatar of Me is whatever color your eyes appear to be. You can add or remove contact lenses to change your eye color in response to spells and abilities.

Silver-bordered rules include any conceivable eye color, not just the five traditional Magic colors. If your eye are hazel, Avatar of Me is hazel.

Thanks to Avatar of Me, if you’re asked to choose a color in a silver-bordered game, you can name any color. “That dreamy shade of blue found only in the sky on a perfect afternoon… and in your eyes” is acceptable, but a little weird.

This spell costs {1} more to cast for each ten years you've been alive.
Avatar of Me's power is equal to your height in feet and its toughness is equal to your American shoe size. Round to the nearest ½.
Avatar of Me is the color of your eyes.

B-I-N-G-O

All nine rows count. You can fill rows horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. A full card with give B-I-N-G-O +72/+72.

Casting multiple spells with the same mana value has no additional benefit. Once a spot has a chip counter, it’s marked, and additional chip counters won’t do anything.

The counters are considered to be on the inherent tracker in B-I-N-G-O’s art, not on the creature itself. Those counters can’t be removed or moved to another permanent. Similarly, if you proliferate, you can’t add more chip counters to B-I-N-G-O.

Trample
Whenever a player casts a spell, put a chip counter on its mana value.
B-I-N-G-O gets +9/+9 for each set of three numbers in a row with chip counters on them.

B.O.B. (Bevy of Beebles)

B.O.B. is not a creature and is not itself a Beeble.

B.O.B.’s loyalty counts all Beebles you control, not just the tokens B.O.B. creates. Or separates? Whatever B.O.B. does.

Conversely, other cards like Primal Vigor don’t mention “effects.” If you control one of these cards, activating B.O.B.’s first loyalty ability would cause you to create two Beebles, and thus put two loyalty counters on B.O.B.

Every time B.O.B loses loyalty, you choose which Beebles to sacrifice. If B.O.B. is dealt more damage than the number of Beebles you control, you sacrifice all of them, and then B.O.B. is put into its owner’s graveyard.

If B.O.B. gains loyalty, the Beeble you create is a 1/1 blue Beeble creature token.

If you control Doubling Season or a similar card that applies “is an effect would create one or more tokens,” you’d create eight Beebles as B.O.B. enters the battlefield. However, because such cards apply only to effects and not costs, you’d still create only one Beeble if you activated B.O.B.’s first loyalty ability.

Sacrificing Beebles to account for B.O.B.’s lost loyalty happens before state-based actions clean up the lethally-damaged Beebles. The one that blocked can heroically be the one you sacrifice. Farewell, brave Beeble. B.O.B.-speed.

As B.O.B. enters, create four 1/1 blue Beeble creature tokens.
The number of loyalty counters on B.O.B. is equal to the number of Beebles you control. (Create or sacrifice Beebles whenever B.O.B. gains or loses loyalty.)
[+1]: Up to X target Beebles can't be blocked this turn, where X is the number of cards in your hand.
[−1]: Draw a card.

Baron Von Count

A numeral is any digit, such as 2, 7, or 0. Written number words such as “five” don’t count.

If a player is destroyed, that player loses the game. There aren’t any ways for a player to regenerate… yet.

Some numbers are made up of multiple numerals. For example, if you cast a spell with the number 12 in its text box, the middle ability will trigger if the doom counter is on 1 or 2.

To move the doom counter one numeral to the left, move it from 5 to 4, from 4 to 3, from 3 to 2, from 2 to 1, or from 1 to 5, as appropriate.

Baron Von Count enters with a doom counter on "5."
Whenever you cast a spell with the indicated numeral in its mana cost, text box, power, or toughness, move the doom counter one numeral to the left.
When the doom counter moves from "1," destroy target player and put that doom counter on "5."

Better Than One

For game purposes, your new teammate becomes the owner of the cards you give them for their library, hand, and permanents. Remember to get your cards back after the game.

If there’s no one around to make a decision, you can call or text someone if you need to. If there’s a physical action required, such as high-fiving, you’ll need someone there.

It doesn’t have to be someone who plays Magic. This may be fun.

You and your new teammate become a Two-Headed Giant team and play under Two-Headed Giant rules from that point forward. Similarly, if you pick up a second teammate, you and your two teammates becomes a Three-Headed Giant team, and so on.

You can choose any player not currently in your game. This includes people who used to be in your game but left it.

You can give your new teammate Contraptions you control. You can also give them face down cards from your Contraption deck so they can form their own Contraption deck.

Your new teammate must agree to play with you, although they don’t necessarily need to know how to play.

Your new teammate must be someone not already in your game, although it can be someone who was once in your game but left.

A person outside the game becomes your teammate. (Choose any number of cards in your hand, on top of your library, or on the battlefield under your control. Those cards become your teammate's hand, library, and permanents, respectively.)

Blast from the Past

Flashback and buyback don't mix. If you cast Blast from the Past using flashback, it will be exiled rather than go back to your hand.

Flashback and kicker do mix. You can pay the kicker cost in addition to the flashback cost to get the extra Goblin token.

If you cycle Blast from the Past, you can then use madness to cast it. If you cast Blast from the Past using madness, you may also pay for kicker or buyback.

A card with madness that's discarded counts as having been discarded even though it's put into exile rather than a graveyard. If it was discarded to pay a cost, that cost is still paid. Abilities that trigger when a card is discarded will still trigger.

A spell cast for its madness cost is put onto the stack like any other spell. It can be countered, copied, and so on. As it resolves, it's put onto the battlefield if it's a permanent card or into its owner's graveyard if it's an instant or sorcery card.

Cards are discarded in a Magic game only from a player's hand. Effects that put cards into a player's graveyard from anywhere else do not cause those cards to be discarded.

Casting a spell with madness ignores the timing rules based on the card's card type. For example, you can cast a sorcery with madness if you discard it during an opponent's turn.

If you choose not to cast a card with madness when the madness triggered ability resolves, it's put into your graveyard. Madness doesn't give you another chance to cast it later.

If you discard a card with madness to pay the cost of a spell or activated ability, that card's madness triggered ability (and the spell that card becomes, if you choose to cast it) will resolve before the spell or ability the discard paid for.

If you discard a card with madness while a spell or ability is resolving, it moves immediately to exile. Continue resolving that spell or ability, noting that the card you discarded is not in your graveyard at this time. Its madness triggered ability will be placed onto the stack once that spell or ability has completely resolved.

Madness works independently of why you're discarding the card. You could discard it to pay a cost, because a spell or ability tells you to, or because you have too many cards in your hand during your cleanup step. You can't discard a card with madness just because you want to, though.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a madness cost) you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell is determined by only its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast that spell was.

Madness {R}, cycling {1}{R}, kicker {2}{R}, flashback {3}{R}, buyback {4}{R}
Blast from the Past deals 2 damage to any target. If this spell was kicked, create a 1/1 red Goblin creature token.

By Gnome Means

You can put any established kind of counter on any permanent using the last ability. If that counter has no mechanical relevance, it’s still put on the creature. For example, you can put a loyalty counter on a creature this way. The loyalty counter won’t do anything, but who knows? The creature might one day become a planeswalker, and then it will. Dream big!

{1}{W}, Remove a counter from a permanent you control: Create a 1/1 colorless Gnome artifact creature token.
{1}{W}, Sacrifice an artifact: Choose any kind of counter a printed card refers to, then put one of that counter on target permanent.

Clocknapper

Beginning phase: You untap permanents you control and your opponent doesn’t. Abilities that trigger at the beginning of your upkeep happen and ones that trigger at the beginning of their upkeep don’t. You draw a card as it’s now your draw step, so your opponent doesn’t.

Combat phase: Just like combat on your turn, you can attack your opponents with your creatures. The opponent you stole the phase from can’t attack with their creatures, but they can block.

Ending phase: Most abilities that trigger during the end step don’t care whose turn it is, but a few do. Effects that last “until end of turn” or “this turn” will expire as normal, as they also don’t care whose turn it is.

Postcombat main phase: Same as precombat main phase.

Precombat main phase: You can cast all types of spells while your opponent can only cast instants and spells with flash.

To steal a phase means that during that player’s next turn, as the chosen phase begins, you treat it as if it were your turn. Here’s what happens if you steal each phase:

When Clocknapper enters, choose beginning phase, first main phase, combat phase, postcombat main phase, or ending phase. Steal that phase from target player during their next turn. (That phase occurs as though it's your turn instead.)

Cramped Bunker

If a token is put in the Cramped Bunker, the object being used to represent the token is what must get in the bunker. You’re not allowed to change what that object is once Cramped Bunker appears. For example, if you’re using a Zombie token card to represent an Angel token (weird, but sure), you can’t suddenly decide you’d rather use a penny. If you create a new Angel token, you can use a penny.

You can pick up cards touching Cramped Bunker to tap them if you need to, but then they must end up still in contact with Cramped Bunker and not in contact with any other permanents.

At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, that player moves a permanent they control to touch Cramped Bunker and no other permanents. If the player can't, destroy each permanent they control that isn't touching Cramped Bunker, then sacrifice it.

Do-It-Yourself Seraph

If Do-It-Yourself Seraph has abilities that contradict one another, the most recently added one wins. For example, if Do-It-Yourself Seraph has the text boxes of both Beast of Burden (power and toughness equal to the number of creatures on the battlefield) and Psychosis Crawler (power and toughness equal to the number of cards in your hand). Do-It-Yourself Seraph’s power and toughness would be defined by the text box added most recently.

If Do-It-Yourself Seraph has the text box of another card, it has all the abilities and flavor text of that card.

If Do-It-Yourself Seraph leaves the battlefield, it loses any text boxes it gained. If it returns to the battlefield, it will be a new object and won’t have those text boxes, either.

If anything cares about the text of Do-It-Yourself Seraph, consider all of its text boxes as if they were one.

Flying
Whenever Do-It-Yourself Seraph attacks, you may search your library for an artifact card, exile it, then shuffle.
Do-It-Yourself Seraph has the text box of each card exiled with Do-It-Yourself Seraph in addition to its own.

Dr. Julius Jumblemorph

Dr. Julius Jumblemorph is every creature type (even if this card isn't on the battlefield).
Whenever a host you control enters, you may search your library and/or graveyard for a card with augment and combine it with that host. If you search your library this way, shuffle.

Earl of Squirrel

If Earl of Squirrel deals damage, you’ll create 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens at the same time the damage is dealt.

If you control two Earls of Squirrel (Earl of Squirrels? Earl ofs Squirrel?), each will get +1/+1 from the other. Other Squirrels you control will get +2/+2.

Squirrellink (Damage dealt by this creature also causes you to create that many 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens.)
Creature tokens you control are Squirrels in addition to their other creature types.
Other Squirrels you control get +1/+1.

Enter the Dungeon

If Enter the Dungeon is cast during a subgame, a sub-subgame begins, preferably under a new, smaller table, but do what you can. The winner of the sub-sub game would search their subgame library for two cards.

Players play a Magic subgame under the table, starting at 5 life and using their libraries as their decks. The winner searches their library for two cards, puts those cards into their hand, then shuffles.

Everythingamajig

For the first ability, if you move a counter onto a planeswalker, you may have that counter become a loyalty counter.

For the third ability, you can’t add another CRANK! counter to your Contraption deck while proliferating. The Contraption deck is neither a permanent nor a player.

{2}, {T}: Move a counter from one permanent onto another. If the second permanent refers to any kind of counter, the moved counter becomes one of those counters. Otherwise, it becomes a +1/+1 counter.
{3}, {T}: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
{4}, {T}: Proliferate. (Choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)

For the third ability, you’ll be the owner of the cards put into your hand, your library, and your graveyard this way for the rest of the game. Everyone gets their cards back when the game is over.

When exchanging libraries, don’t change the order of either of them.

{1}, {T}: Scry 2.
{1}, {T}, Pay 1 life: Create a 0/1 white Goat creature token.
{7}, {T}, Sacrifice Everythingamajig: Choose target player. At the beginning of the next end step, exchange life totals with that player, exchange control of all permanents you and that player control, and exchange cards in your hands, cards in your libraries, and cards in your graveyards.

Flavor Judge

If the outside person says the story makes sense, nothing happens. The spell or ability will resolve (unless something else happens in response). If you control more than one Flavor Judge, or if you have a way to untap it, you can try again with a new outside person. While we can’t stop you from trying again with the same person, we encourage you to really think about whether that’s a good use of everyone’s time.

While players are discouraged from trying to overtly influence the outside person toward a desired answer, you may use tonal inflection, gestures, and the like to make your telling of the story more interesting. Simply explain what’s going to happen and let them decide if it makes sense.

{T}: Choose target spell or ability that targets a permanent you control. Then ask a person outside the game if the story of what will happen makes sense. If they say no, sacrifice Flavor Judge and counter that spell or ability.

Don't cross him or you'll end up sleeping with the merfolk.

Frankie Peanuts

Frankie Peanuts hates snitches, but he detests unsporting conduct. Keep your questions appropriate for your game and its surroundings.

If you’re the player answering the yes-or-no question, you must abide by your answer if able. For example, if you are asked “Is the Slaying Mantis you control going to attack on your next turn?” and you say yes, then it must attack if able. However, if it’s tapped as you declare attackers that turn, then you aren’t able to attack with it, and you don’t have to abide by your answer.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may ask target player a yes-or-no question. If you do, that player answers the question truthfully and abides by that answer if able until end of turn.

You have to hang around the graveyard if you want to catch the talking dead.

Graveyard Busybody

Cards owned by your opponents still go to the appropriate graveyard.

If an effect asks how many cards are in your graveyard, use the total number of cards in all your graveyards. However, they are still separate graveyards. If an effect affects a single graveyard, such as shuffling it into its owner’s library, only that one graveyard is shuffled in.

If more than one player controls a Graveyard Busybody, the one that entered the battlefield most recently “wins.” The controller of that Graveyard Busybody has all the graveyards, and any other player’s Graveyard Busybody is a 0/0 that is put into the graveyard that player used to have as a state-based action.

Only you can use abilities of cards in graveyards. For example, if a spell requires that you exile cards from your graveyard, you can exile cards from any graveyard. Any card that looks at cards in graveyards looks at any or all your graveyards.

Speaking of that, cards in graveyards are shuffled into their owners’ libraries. You won’t put any cards from graveyards you stole, er . . . borrowed into your library.

All graveyards are also your graveyards.
Graveyard Busybody's power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards with flavor text in your graveyards.

Grusilda, Monster Masher

A combined creature is one of the following: a creature put onto the battlefield using Grusilda's activated ability, a host creature with an augment card attached to it, a melded creature, or a merged permanent.

If you use Grusilda's ability to combine a creature card with augment with a nonhost creature card, the resulting creature will have augment but won't be attached to a host. It (meaning both cards) will be put into your graveyard as a state-based action.

If you use Grusilda's ability to combine two host creature cards, you can later attach a card with augment to that creature.

You can use Grusilda's ability to put a host creature card and a creature card with augment onto the battlefield combined.

Combined, enchanted, and equipped creatures you control have menace.
{3}{B}{R}, {T}: Put two target creature cards from graveyards onto the battlefield combined into one creature under your control. (Its power is equal to their total power, its toughness is equal to their total toughness, and it has their names, mana costs, types, text boxes, etc.)

Early testing failed because the clones were all thumbs.

Handy Dandy Clone Machine

Any one human hand can represent only one Homunculus token. If you have two hands, you’ll be limited to two such tokens, unless you use other people’s hands, but…

…those people need to agree to do this. You can get other living people to use their still-very-much-attached hands. Your opponent can agree to help you out, but they’re not required to.

{2}, {T}: Create a 2/2 colorless Homunculus creature token. It must be represented by a unique hand and two fingers at all times, or it ceases to exist.

Hot Fix

At the end of the ten seconds, your library must again be a single face-down pile of cards. If it’s not, you must shuffle your library, even if you weren’t touching it when time expired.

Have another player keep time and announce when the ten seconds are up. If you’re still touching any cards in your library when time is up, you have to shuffle your library, undoing your ordering.

You can’t change the contents of the library.

You have ten seconds to look at and rearrange the cards in your library. At the end of those ten seconds, if you're touching one or more of those cards, shuffle.

Hydradoodle

You can choose 0 as the value of X. However, you won’t roll any dice as it enters and it will be a 0/0. Unless something else is raising its toughness, it will be put into its owner’s graveyard.

As Hydradoodle enters, roll X six-sided dice. Hydradoodle enters with a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to the total of those results.
Reach, trample

After a hundred failed patent applications, Cornelian was stunned to find that no one had ever created a steam-powered autonomous ice cream delivery system. He immediately designed a gnome with scoops for hands.

Incite Insight

Assemble X Contraptions. (To assemble a Contraption, put the top card of your Contraption deck face up onto one of your sprockets.)

Ineffable Blessing

As Ineffable Blessing enters, choose white-bordered or silver-bordered.
Whenever a creature you control with the chosen border enters, draw a card.

"Hallowed be this assemblage of various stuff!"

If you choose Flavorful, you’ll draw a card even if the flavor text doesn’t appear in the text box. Lexivore, for example, is eating its own flavor text.

You can choose differently for each Ineffable Blessing you control. Each will have the ability associated with the choice you made for that Ineffable Blessing. It won’t have the other ability.

As Ineffable Blessing enters, choose Flavorful or Bland.
• Flavorful — Whenever a creature with flavor text enters under your control, draw a card.
• Bland — Whenever a creature without flavor text enters under your control, draw a card.

Infernal Spawn of Infernal Spawn of Evil

If you have multiple copies in your library while searching it, you may reveal all of them, provided you can pay the {1}{B} for each of them.

If you search your library multiple times in the same turn, each Infernal Spawn of Infernal Spawn of Evil in that library can be revealed once that turn. You may reveal multiples to prove you have multiples.

Infernal Spawn of Infernal Spawn of Evil doesn’t itself allow you to search your library. You must have another spell or ability that instructs you to search it.

You can reveal Infernal Spawn of Infernal Spawn of Evil any time while searching your library before you shuffle it.

Flying, first strike, trample
Once each turn, while you're searching your library, you may pay {1}{B}, reveal Infernal Spawn of Infernal Spawn of Evil from your library and say "I'm coming, too!" If you do, Infernal Spawn of Infernal Spawn of Evil deals 2 damage to a player of your choice.

Infernius Spawnington III, Esq.

Reveal is a keyword action. A card is revealed if a spell, ability, or rule instructed you to reveal it, using the word “reveal.” While you are allowed to show your hand to other players just because you feel like it, that isn’t “revealing” those cards.

Flying, first strike, trample, haste
This spell costs {3} less to cast for each card you've revealed this turn.
When Infernius Spawnington III, Esq. enters, you may say "I'm here." If you do, it deals 3 damage to target player.

Infinity Elemental

If an effect sets your life total to a specific number, it will be that number, even if you previously had infinite life.

If you give Infinity Elemental lifelink and it deals damage, you will gain infinite life. You might think infinite life sounds like a lot, and you’d be right. Once at infinite life, your life total mostly can’t change (see below). At infinite life and gain 2 life? You’re at infinite life. At infinite life and lose 29 life? You’re at infinite life. You can pay any amount of life and still be at infinite life. In fact, if you’re at infinite life and get with an opposing Infinity Elemental, you’d still be at infinite life.

If you’re at infinite life and attempt to draw a card from an empty library . . . you lose. You’re not immortal.

Infinity Elemental’s power is incalculable. Infinity Elemental has the greatest power among creatures on the battlefield (and off the battlefield for that matter), although it will tie with other Infinity Elementals. Gaining or losing power is meaningless to it, although effects that set its power to another number will still work.

Through various other cards, you can convert the infinite power of Infinity Elemental into other resources. For example, you could have infinite mana or create infinite tokens. You could draw infinite cards, but that many card don’t exist, so it’s probably not a great idea. Forcing another player to draw infinite cards, on the other hand . . . .

"My sword is at your service, as are my scissors, corkscrew, and bottle opener."

Jackknight

Whenever another artifact you control enters, put a +1/+1 counter on Jackknight. If that artifact is a Contraption, Jackknight gains lifelink until end of turn.

"Just relax—I brought in a substitute."

Kindslaver

If the person in control doesn’t know anything about Magic, it’s okay to get someone who isn’t you or the controlled player to advise them. Failing that, advising them to just say “go” is okay.

If the person you’ve enlisted to control your opponent wanders off or refuses to do anything, assume the controlled player did nothing during their turn and end the turn.

Only decisions called for by cards and the game rules are affected. The controlling player can’t make the player they’re controlling concede or perform illegal actions.

The person you enlist makes all decisions for the target player during that player’s next turn. They choose whether any spells are cast, any creatures attack, and so on.

{5}, {T}, Sacrifice Kindslaver: A person outside the game controls target player during that player's next turn. Neither player may advise that person until the end of that turn.

Mary O'Kill

For all intents and purposes, the exchanged card is taking the place of the original card. Whatever its doing, the state it’s in, whatever’s attached to it—all of it stays the same. It’s as if Mary O’Kill or one of the Killbots pulls off a mask to reveal they were actually the other one all along. Diabolical!

Killbot is a creature type. There are several Killbots in the Unstable set.

You can activate Mary O’Kill’s ability if it is in your hand.

{1}{B/R}: Switch a Killbot or Mary O'Kill in your hand with one on the battlefield. (If a creature is tapped, the switched creature is tapped. The same is true for untapped, attacking, blocking, enchanted, equipped, and targeted. Any counters on a creature are on the switched creature instead.)

Masterful Ninja

If Masterful Ninja is destroyed or discarded, it goes to your graveyard. It will no longer be on the battlefield or in your hand.

If you try to move Masterful Ninja from the battlefield to your hand or vice versa, and it’s in both zones, it will just stay in both zones. For example, if Masterful Ninja is in both zones, casting Unsummon targeting it won’t do anything.

Masterful Ninja’s first activated ability doesn’t cause any enters-the-battlefield abilities to trigger. When the turn ends and Masterful Ninja stops being both on the battlefield and in your hand, this won’t cause any dies or leaves-the-battlefield abilities to trigger. If Masterful Ninja enters or leaves the battlefield some other way, those abilities work as normal.

Haste
Reveal Masterful Ninja from your hand: Masterful Ninja is on the battlefield and in your hand until end of turn.
{1}{B}: Masterful Ninja gets +1/+1 until end of turn.

Modular Monstrosity

Each keyword can be chosen only once on any given day. And that counts every Modular Monstrosity you play with that day. You also can’t reuse a keyword with a new modifier. For example, if you choose protection from Demons and from Dragons (totally counts), you can’t choose protection from red later that day. Protection has already been used.

If you haven’t made a valid choice after five seconds, Modular Monstrosity loses all keyword abilities, including ones its picked up in other ways.

If you make an invalid choice, you can still make a valid choice as long as time hasn’t expired.

You may choose any keyword ability that appears on any printed Magic creature card. You can’t pick keyword actions like explore or scry. If the keyword has a modifier, such as a mana cost or a number, you must choose a modifier that’s been printed. Sorry, “annihilator 500” fans.

Whenever an opponent casts a spell, you have five seconds to choose a keyword you haven't chosen for a card named Modular Monstrosity today that's been printed on a creature card. If you do, Modular Monstrosity gains that ability. Otherwise, Modular Monstrosity loses all keyword abilities.
