Academy Rector

When Academy Rector is put into a graveyard from play, you may remove Academy Rector from the game. If you do, search your library for an enchantment card and put that card into play. Then shuffle your library.

You do not have to find an enchantment card if you do not want to, even if you have one in your library.

An enchantment card is any Enchantment card, including Auras.

When Academy Rector dies, you may exile it. If you do, search your library for an enchantment card, put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle.

When Gatha fell, he was called to account for each abomination he created.

Aether Sting

Whenever one of your opponents plays a creature spell, Æther Sting deals 1 damage to that player.

The ability triggers when an opponent casts a creature spell, and goes on the stack above that spell. As such, the ability will deal 1 damage to that player before the creature enters.

Archery Training

Eradicate

Remove target nonblack creature from the game. Search its controller's graveyard, hand, and library for all copies of that card and remove them from the game. That player then shuffles his or her library.

Does not exile other cards of the same name that are on the battlefield. Just from the graveyard, hand, and library.

If a copy card is targeted by this effect, you get to look for another copy of the card it is copying. This is because a copy card actually takes on the name and initial characteristics of what it copies.

Use the name of the card as it leaves the battlefield.

If you manage to turn a land (such as a Forest or Stalking Stones) into a creature, you can indeed use this effect on that basic land type. Eradicate’s exile effect only looks for cards by name, not type.

The copies must be found if they are in publicly viewable zones. Finding copies while searching private zones is optional.

A face-down creature has no name, so no card can possibly share a name with it (not even other cards with no name). If you Eradicate a face-down creature you will still search its controller’s library, but you won’t be able to exile any cards from that library.

Extruder

Extruder can be the target of its own activated ability, and you can sacrifice Extruder to pay for that activation. This won't accomplish much, but it does allow you to sacrifice Extruder if you want to.

Paying for echo is always optional. When the echo triggered ability resolves, if you can't pay the echo cost or choose not to, you sacrifice that permanent.

Your permanent's echo ability will trigger at the beginning of your upkeep if it entered the battlefield since the beginning of your last upkeep, or if you gained control of it since the beginning of your last upkeep.

Flicker

Remove target nontoken permanent from the game, then return it to play under its owner's control.

It will trigger "enters" abilities and "leaves the battlefield" abilities. Note that the card does not go to the graveyard, so it will not trigger "goes to the graveyard" abilities.

This could be used to make the target of another spell or ability illegal if this wasn't a sorcery (which makes it really hard to do that). This is because the Flickered permanent leaves the battlefield and then returns as a completely different permanent, and the targeted spell will not recognize it.

This spell effectively "resets" the permanent to being just like it was freshly cast. All counters, Auras, effects, and so on are removed when it is exiled. Then it comes back onto the battlefield like new.

Exile target nontoken permanent, then return it to the battlefield under its owner's control.

Step 1: Find your cousin. Step 2: Get your cousin in the cannon. Step 3: Find another cousin.
