Approach of the Second Sun

A card that changes zones is considered a new object, so casting the same Approach of the Second Sun card on a later turn is “another spell” named Approach of the Second Sun.

A copy of a spell isn't cast, so it won't count as the first nor as the second Approach of the Second Sun.

As your second Approach of the Second Sun resolves, it checks only whether the first one was cast, not whether the first one resolved. If your first Approach of the Second Sun was countered, you'll still win the game as your second one resolves.

If you have fewer than six cards in your library, you'll put Approach of the Second Sun on the bottom of your library. Otherwise, you'll lift up the top six cards without looking at them and place Approach of the Second Sun just under them.

The second Approach of the Second Sun that you cast must be cast from your hand, but first may have been cast from anywhere.

Approach of the Second Sun has no effect until it's resolving. If the second one you cast is countered, you won't win the game.

If this spell was cast from your hand and you've cast another spell named Approach of the Second Sun this game, you win the game. Otherwise, put Approach of the Second Sun into its owner's library seventh from the top and you gain 7 life.

Chandra, Torch of Defiance

An effect that instructs you to “cast” a card doesn't allow you to play lands. If the card exiled with Chandra's first ability is a land card, you can't play it and Chandra deals 2 damage to each opponent.

Chandra's emblem's ability resolves before the spell that caused it to trigger.

If you cast the exiled card, you do so as part of the resolution of Chandra's ability. You can't wait to cast it later in the turn. Timing permissions based on the card's type are ignored, but other restrictions (such as “Cast [this card] only during combat”) are not.

In a Two-Headed Giant game, Chandra's first ability causes 4 damage total to be dealt to the opposing team.

Loyalty abilities can't be mana abilities. Chandra's second ability uses the stack and can be countered or otherwise responded to. Like all loyalty abilities, it can be activated only once per turn, during your main phase, when the stack is empty, and only if no other loyalty abilities of the planeswalker have been activated this turn.

The emblem created by Chandra's last ability is colorless. The damage it deals is from a colorless source.

You pay the costs for the exiled card if you cast it. You may pay alternative costs such as emerge rather than the card's mana cost.

[+1]: Exile the top card of your library. You may cast that card. If you don't, Chandra, Torch of Defiance deals 2 damage to each opponent.
[+1]: Add {R}{R}.
[−3]: Chandra, Torch of Defiance deals 4 damage to target creature.
[−7]: You get an emblem with "Whenever you cast a spell, this emblem deals 5 damage to any target."

Metal is scarce, smiths are pricey, and plate mail is heavy.

Ethereal Armor

Ethereal Armor counts each enchantment you control, including itself and any Auras you control that are attached to an opponent or to permanents controlled by an opponent.

Enchant creature
Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 for each enchantment you control and has first strike.

Hidden Strings

If a creature with an encoded card deals combat damage to more than one player simultaneously (perhaps because some of the combat damage was redirected), the triggered ability will trigger once for each player it deals combat damage to. Each ability will create a copy of the exiled card and allow you to cast it.

If another player gains control of the creature, that player will control the triggered ability. That player will create a copy of the encoded card and may cast it.

If the creature leaves the battlefield, the exiled card will no longer be encoded on any creature. It will stay exiled.

If the spell with cipher doesn’t resolve, none of its effects will happen, including cipher. The card will go to its owner’s graveyard and won’t be encoded on a creature.

If you choose not to cast the copy, or you can’t cast it (perhaps because there are no legal targets available), the copy will cease to exist the next time state-based actions are performed. You won’t get a chance to cast the copy at a later time.

If you want to encode the card with cipher onto a noncreature permanent such as a Keyrune that can turn into a creature, that permanent has to be a creature before the spell with cipher starts resolving. You can choose only a creature to encode the card onto.

The copy of the card with cipher is created in and cast from exile.

The exiled card with cipher grants a triggered ability to the creature it’s encoded on. If that creature loses that ability and subsequently deals combat damage to a player, the triggered ability won’t trigger. However, the exiled card will continue to be encoded on that creature.

The spell with cipher is encoded on the creature as part of that spell’s resolution, just after the spell’s other effects. That card goes directly from the stack to exile. It never goes to the graveyard.

You cast the copy of the card with cipher during the resolution of the triggered ability. Ignore timing restrictions based on the card’s type.

You choose the creature as the spell resolves. The cipher ability doesn’t target that creature, although the spell with cipher may target that creature (or a different creature) because of its other abilities.

You may tap or untap target permanent, then you may tap or untap another target permanent.
Cipher (Then you may exile this spell card encoded on a creature you control. Whenever that creature deals combat damage to a player, its controller may cast a copy of the encoded card without paying its mana cost.)

Threefold were his crimes, doubled were his pleas, singular was his fate.

Isolate

If a permanent has {X} in its mana cost, X is considered to be 0.

Exile target permanent with mana value 1.

Lurrus of the Dream-Den

Before shuffling your deck to become your library, you may reveal one card from outside the game to be your companion if your starting deck meets the requirements of the companion ability. You can't reveal more than one. It remains revealed outside the game as the game begins.

For spells with {X} in their mana costs, use the value chosen for X to determine the spell's mana value. For example, if a permanent spell costs {X}{W}, you could cast it with X as 1 but not as 2.

If a card in a player's deck has {X} in its mana cost, X is considered to be 0.

If a permanent card is put into your graveyard during your main phase and the stack is empty, you have a chance to cast it before any player may attempt to remove that card from your graveyard.

If more than one player wishes to reveal a companion, the starting player does so first, and players proceed in turn order. Once a player has chosen not to reveal a companion, that player can't change their mind.

If you cast a spell from your graveyard using another permission, Lurrus's effect doesn't apply. You can cast another permanent spell from your graveyard.

If you cast one permanent spell from your graveyard and then have a new Lurrus come under your control in the same turn, you may cast another permanent spell from your graveyard that turn.

If you reveal a companion outside the game, for as long as it remains there, you may pay {3} any time you could cast a sorcery (that is, you have priority during your main phase and the stack is empty). Once you do, you put it into your hand and behaves like any other card you've brought into the game. For example, if it's discard, countered, or destroyed, it's put into your graveyard, remaining in the game. This is a change from previous rules.

Lurrus doesn't care about instant and sorcery cards in your starting deck. They may have any mana value.

Lurrus doesn't let you play lands from your graveyard.

Once you begin to cast the spell, losing control of Lurrus won't affect the spell. You can finish casting it as normal.

The companion ability has no effect if the card is in your starting deck and creates no restriction on putting a card with a companion ability into your starting deck. For example, Zirda may be in your starting deck even if your other permanent cards don't all have activated abilities.

The companion's other abilities apply only if the creature is on the battlefield. They have no effect while the companion is outside the game.

The requirements of the companion ability apply only to your starting deck. They do not apply to your sideboard.

You may have one companion in the Commander variant. Your deck, including your commander, must meet its companion requirement. Your companion is not one of your one hundred cards.

You must follow the normal timing permissions and restrictions of the spell you cast from your graveyard.

You must pay the costs to cast that spell. If it has an alternative cost, such as a mutate cost, you may cast it for that cost instead.

Your companion begins the game outside the game. In tournament play, this means your sideboard. In casual play, it's simply a card you own that's not in your starting deck.

If you reveal a companion outside the game, for as long as it remains there, you may pay {3} any time you could cast a sorcery (that is, you have priority during your main phase and the stack is empty). Paying {3} to put your companion into your hand is a special action. It doesn't use the stack and players can't respond to it. Once you take this action, you may cast that card if it's legal to do so before any other player can take actions.

Wizards of the Coast has issued functional errata for the Companion mechanic. Instead of casting companions from outside the game: Once per game, any time you could cast a sorcery (during your main phase when the stack is empty), you can pay {3} to put your companion from your sideboard into your hand. This is a special action, not an activated ability. It happens immediately and can’t be responded to. It can’t be countered or stopped by cards like Phyrexian Revoker. Companion — Each permanent card in your starting deck has mana value 2 or less. (If this card is your chosen companion, you may put it into your hand from outside the game for {3} as a sorcery.)
Lifelink
Once during each of your turns, you may cast a permanent spell with mana value 2 or less from your graveyard.

Purphoros's blessing: sometimes a boon, sometimes a bane. Always ablaze.

Searing Blood

If the target creature dies that turn, Searing Blood will deal 3 damage to whoever controls the creature when it dies, who isn’t necessarily the player who controlled it when Searing Blood resolved. It doesn’t matter what causes the creature to die.

Searing Blood deals 2 damage to target creature. When that creature dies this turn, Searing Blood deals 3 damage to the creature's controller.

Silkwrap

Auras attached to the exiled creature will be put into their owners’ graveyards. Equipment attached to the exiled creature will become unattached and remain on the battlefield. Any counters on the exiled creature will cease to exist.

Face-down creatures have a converted mana cost of 0. If one is exiled by Silkwrap, it will return to the battlefield face up.

If Silkwrap leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, the target creature won’t be exiled.

If a creature token is exiled, it ceases to exist. It won’t be returned to the battlefield.

In a multiplayer game, if Silkwrap’s owner leaves the game, the exiled card will return to the battlefield. Because the one-shot effect that returns the card isn’t an ability that goes on the stack, it won’t cease to exist along with the leaving player’s spells and abilities on the stack.

Silkwrap’s ability causes a zone change with a duration, a style of ability that’s somewhat reminiscent of older cards like Oblivion Ring. However, unlike Oblivion Ring, cards like Silkwrap have a single ability that creates two one-shot effects: one that exiles the creature when the ability resolves, and another that returns the exiled card to the battlefield immediately after Silkwrap leaves the battlefield.

The exiled card returns to the battlefield immediately after Silkwrap leaves the battlefield. Nothing happens between the two events, including state-based actions.

When Silkwrap enters the battlefield, exile target creature with mana value 3 or less an opponent controls until Silkwrap leaves the battlefield. (That creature returns under its owner's control.)

Spell Queller

For spells with {X} in their mana costs, use the value chosen for X to determine if the spell’s converted mana cost is 4 or less.

If Spell Queller leaves the battlefield before its enters-the-battlefield triggered ability resolves, its leaves-the-battlefield triggered ability triggers, resolves, and does nothing. Then its first triggered ability resolves and exiles the spell forever.

If a player casts a card “without paying its mana cost,” they can’t choose to cast it for any alternative costs, such as emerge costs. The player can, however, pay additional costs, such as escalate costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, those must be paid to cast the card.

If the card has {X} in its mana cost, the player must choose 0 as the value of X when casting it without paying its mana cost.

If the exiled card’s owner casts it, the spell has no relation to the spell that player originally cast. Any choices made for the original spell or effects affecting the original spell aren’t carried over to the new one.

If the player casts the exiled card, they do so as part of the resolution of Spell Queller’s last ability. The player can’t wait to cast it later in the turn. Timing permissions based on the card’s type are ignored, but other restrictions (such as “Cast [this card] only during combat”) are not.

Spells that can’t be countered can be exiled by Spell Queller’s ability. They won’t resolve.

Flash
Flying
When Spell Queller enters the battlefield, exile target spell with mana value 4 or less.
When Spell Queller leaves the battlefield, the exiled card's owner may cast that card without paying its mana cost.

Wild Slash

Ferocious abilities of instants and sorceries that don’t use the word “instead” provide an additional effect if you control a creature with power 4 or greater as they resolve.

If you control a creature with power 4 or greater as Wild Slash resolves, the ferocious ability will apply. Damage dealt that turn can’t be prevented, even if you no longer control a creature with power 4 or greater as that damage would be dealt.

Wild Slash’s ferocious ability applies to all damage that would be dealt that turn, including the damage Wild Slash deals.

Ferocious — If you control a creature with power 4 or greater, damage can't be prevented this turn.
Wild Slash deals 2 damage to any target.
