Admiral Beckett Brass

Other Pirates you control get +1/+1.
At the beginning of your end step, gain control of target nonland permanent controlled by a player who was dealt combat damage by three or more Pirates this turn.

Admiral Beckett Brass's triggered ability checks what happened earlier in the turn. It doesn't care whether Admiral Beckett Brass was on the battlefield when those Pirates dealt combat damage, whether those creatures are still on the battlefield, or whether they're still Pirates.

If more than one player was dealt combat damage by three Pirates, you target only one permanent. It may be controlled by either of those players.

If one Pirate deals combat damage multiple times, most likely because it has double strike, it counts as only one of the three Pirates for Admiral Beckett Brass's triggered ability.

In a Two-Headed Giant game, combat damage dealt by Pirates your teammate controls will count when checking for Admiral Beckett Brass's ability.

In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well, and any effects that give the player control of permanents immediately end.

The control-change effect of Admiral Beckett Brass's triggered ability lasts indefinitely. It doesn't wear off during the cleanup step or when you lose control of Admiral Beckett Brass.

Admiral Brass, Unsinkable

When Admiral Brass, Unsinkable enters the battlefield, mill four cards.
At the beginning of combat on your turn, you may return target Pirate creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with a finality counter on it. It has base power and toughness 4/4. It gains haste until end of turn. (If a creature with a finality counter on it would die, exile it instead.)

Admiral Brass, Unsinkable's effect will overwrite any previous effects that set the returned creature's power and toughness to specific numbers. Effects that otherwise modify the returned creature's power and toughness will still apply no matter when they took effect. The same is true for +1/+1 counters.

Finality counters aren't keyword counters, and a finality counter doesn't give any abilities to the permanent it's on. If that permanent loses its abilities and then would go to a graveyard, it will still be exiled instead.

Finality counters don't stop permanents from going to zones other than the graveyard from the battlefield. For example, if a permanent with a finality counter on it would be put into its owner's hand from the battlefield, it does so normally.

Finality counters work on any permanent, not only creatures. If a permanent with a finality counter on it would go to a graveyard from the battlefield, exile it instead.

Multiple finality counters on a single permanent are redundant.

When Admiral Brass, Unsinkable enters the battlefield, mill four cards.
At the beginning of combat on your turn, you may return target Pirate creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with a finality counter on it. It has base power and toughness 4/4. It gains haste until end of turn.

Aetherize

Return all attacking creatures to their owner's hand.

An "attacking creature" is one that has been declared as an attacker this combat, or one that was put onto the battlefield attacking this combat. Unless that creature leaves combat, it continues to be an attacking creature through the end of combat step, even if the player it was attacking has left the game, or the planeswalker it was attacking has left combat. There's no such thing as an attacking creature outside of the combat phase.

Akroma's Will

Choose one. If you control a commander as you cast this spell, you may choose both.
• Creatures you control gain flying, vigilance, and double strike until end of turn.
• Creatures you control gain lifelink, indestructible, and protection from all colors until end of turn.

Even though the card is named after a specific character, controlling any commander will satisfy its condition.

Once you've announced that you're casting a spell, players can't take any actions until you've finished doing so. Notably, opponents can't try to remove your commander to change how many modes you may choose.

Once you've chosen both modes for the spell, it doesn't matter whether you continue to control a commander. This is true even if you somehow no longer control a commander as you finish casting the spell.

The commander you control doesn't have to be your commander.

There's no extra bonus if you control more than one commander.

Choose one. If you control a commander as you cast this spell, you may choose both instead.
• Creatures you control gain flying, vigilance, and double strike until end of turn.
• Creatures you control gain lifelink, indestructible, and protection from all colors until end of turn.

Alchemist's Refuge

{T}: Add {C}.
{G}{U}, {T}: You may cast spells this turn as though they had flash.

The last ability applies to nonland cards in any zone, provided something is allowing you to cast them. For example, you could cast a sorcery with flashback as though it had flash.

You can cast a nonland card with flash any time you could cast an instant.

Altar of the Wretched // Wretched Bonemass

Craft abilities are activated abilities with costs that have a mana component as well as an additional "materials" component.

Craft abilities are written "Craft with [materials] [mana]", which means "[Mana], Exile this permanent, Exile [materials] from among permanents you control and/or cards in your graveyard: Return this card to the battlefield transformed under its owner's control. Activate only as a sorcery."

If a card that isn't a transforming double-faced card becomes a copy of a card with craft, it'll stay in exile if you activate the craft ability. It won't return to the battlefield.

If any of the exiled cards has a characteristic-defining ability that defines its power and/or toughness, that ability will apply. For example, if you used Souls of the Lost to craft Wretched Bonemass, its power and toughness while in exile are determined by the number of permanent cards in your graveyard, and Wretched Bonemass's power and toughness will change as the number of permanent cards in your graveyard changes. If the characteristic-defining ability can't be applied, then use 0.

If the materials required include multiple objects, you may exile some of them from among permanents you control and the rest from among cards in your graveyard. You don't have to choose all permanents or all cards from your graveyard.

The back faces of some cards with craft refer to cards "used to craft" it. This refers to the cards exiled as part of the cost of the craft ability of the front face. Those cards are considered to be "used to craft" that permanent as long as they remain exiled and the permanent remains on the battlefield, even if the permanent's controller changes or some of its characteristics change (because of a copy effect, for example.)

You may exile tokens you control as part of the materials required. However, because they aren't cards and won't stay in exile, any abilities that refer to what you "used to craft" the back faces won't refer to anything.

When Altar of the Wretched enters the battlefield, you may sacrifice a nontoken creature. If you do, draw X cards, then mill X cards, where X is that creature's power.
Craft with one or more creatures {2}{B}{B}
{2}{B}: Return Altar of the Wretched from your graveyard to your hand.

Wretched Bonemass's power and toughness are each equal to the total power of the exiled cards used to craft it.
Wretched Bonemass has flying as long as an exiled card used to craft it has flying. The same is true for first strike, double strike, deathtouch, haste, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, protection, reach, trample, and vigilance.

Amphin Mutineer

When Amphin Mutineer enters the battlefield, exile up to one target non-Salamander creature. That creature's controller creates a 4/3 blue Salamander Warrior creature token.
Encore {4}{U}{U} ({4}{U}{U}, Exile this card from your graveyard: For each opponent, create a token copy that attacks that opponent this turn if able. They gain haste. Sacrifice them at the beginning of the next end step. Activate only as a sorcery.)

Each token must attack the appropriate player if able.

Exiling the card with encore is a cost to activate the ability. Once you announce that you're activating it, no player may take actions until you've finished. They can't try to remove the card from your graveyard to stop you from paying the cost.

If one of the tokens can't attack for any reason (such as being tapped), then it doesn't attack. If there's a cost associated with having it attack, you aren't forced to pay that cost, so it doesn't have to attack in that case either.

If one of the tokens somehow is under another player's control as the delayed triggered ability resolves, you can't sacrifice that token. It remains on the battlefield indefinitely, even if you regain control of it later.

If the target non-Salamander creature is an illegal target by the time Amphin Mutineer's ability tries to resolve, the ability doesn't resolve. No player creates a Salamander Warrior token.

Opponents who have left the game aren't counted when determining how many tokens to create.

The tokens copy only what's on the original card. Effects that modified that creature when it was previously on the battlefield won't be copied.

If an effect stops a token from attacking a specific player, that token can attack any player, planeswalker, or battle, or not attack at all. If the effect stops the token from attacking a specific player unless a cost is paid, you don't have to pay that cost unless you want to attack that player.

Amulet of Vigor

Whenever a permanent enters the battlefield tapped and under your control, untap it.

For Amulet of Vigor's ability to trigger, a permanent must enter the battlefield tapped due to an effect that says "put [the permanent] onto the battlefield tapped," "[this permanent] enters the battlefield tapped," or the like. If it enters the battlefield untapped, the ability won't trigger, even if you tap that permanent afterward.

If you control more than one Amulet of Vigor, each Amulet's ability triggers when a permanent enters the battlefield tapped and under your control. The first ability that resolves will untap that permanent. If the permanent somehow becomes tapped again before the next ability resolves, the next ability will untap it as well (and so on).

Captain Angrath cares less about treasure than mayhem. If he can't leave Ixalan, he'll burn the plane down.

Angrath's Marauders

If a source you control would deal damage to a permanent or player, it deals double that damage to that permanent or player instead.

If a creature with trample you control would deal combat damage to a blocking creature while you control Angrath's Marauders, you must assign its unmodified damage. For example, a 3/3 creature with trample blocked by a 2/2 creature can have at most 1 damage assigned to the defending player. It will then deal 4 damage to the blocking creature and 2 damage to the defending player.

If an effect such as that of Chandra's Pyrohelix asks you to divide damage among targets, you must divide the unmodified damage before doubling it.

If you control a second Angrath's Marauders, damage dealt by sources you control will be multiplied by 4. If you control a third, it will be multiplied by 8, and so on.

Apex Altisaur

When Apex Altisaur enters the battlefield, it fights up to one target creature you don't control.
Enrage — Whenever Apex Altisaur is dealt damage, it fights up to one target creature you don't control.

If Apex Altisaur fights a creature while either of its abilities is resolving, being dealt damage this way causes its second ability to trigger. It may fight several times in a row this way.

If the target creature is an illegal target when Apex Altisaur's last ability tries to resolve, the ability doesn't resolve. If it's a legal target but Apex Altisaur is no longer on the battlefield when the ability resolves (perhaps because it has already died from picking too many fights) the target creature won't deal or be dealt damage.

Arcane Signet

{T}: Add one mana of any color in your commander's color identity.

If you don't have a commander, Arcane Signet's ability produces no mana.

If you have two commanders, the ability adds one mana of any color in their combined color identities.

If your commander is a card that has no colors in its color identity, Arcane Signet's ability produces no mana. It doesn't produce {C}.

It started as a mere drop of water. The Magic Mirror crystallized it into much more.

Arch of Orazca

Ascend (If you control ten or more permanents, you get the city's blessing for the rest of the game.)
{T}: Add {C}.
{5}, {T}: Draw a card. Activate only if you have the city's blessing.

A permanent is any object on the battlefield, including tokens and lands. Spells and emblems aren't permanents.

Ascend on a permanent isn't a triggered ability and doesn't use the stack. Players can respond to a spell that will give you your tenth permanent, but they can't respond to getting the city's blessing once you control that tenth permanent. This means that if your tenth permanent is a land you play, players can't respond before you get the city's blessing.

If you cast a spell with ascend, you don't get the city's blessing until it resolves. Players may respond to that spell by trying to change whether you get the city's blessing.

If you control ten permanents but don't control a permanent or resolving spell with ascend, you don't get the city's blessing. For example, if you control ten permanents, lose control of one, then cast Golden Demise, you won't have the city's blessing and the spell will affect creatures you control.

If your tenth permanent enters the battlefield and then a permanent leaves the battlefield immediately afterwards (most likely due to the "Legend Rule" or due to being a creature with 0 toughness), you get the city's blessing before it leaves the battlefield.

Once you have the city's blessing, you have it for the rest of the game, even if you lose control of some or all of your permanents. The city's blessing isn't a permanent itself and can't be removed by any effect.

Archaeomancer's Map

When Archaeomancer's Map enters the battlefield, search your library for up to two basic Plains cards, reveal them, put them into your hand, then shuffle.
Whenever a land enters the battlefield under an opponent's control, if that player controls more lands than you, you may put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield.

The last ability triggers only if that opponent controls more lands than you after the land enters the battlefield. The ability will check again as it tries to resolve. If that opponent doesn't still control more lands than you at that time, the ability won't resolve.

Arm-Mounted Anchor

Equipped creature gets +2/+2 and has menace.
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, draw two cards. Then discard two cards unless you discard a Pirate card.
Equip {2}. This ability costs {2} less to activate if you have one or fewer cards in hand.

You can discard either one Pirate card or two cards which may or may not be Pirates. If you really want to, you can discard two Pirate cards. (Admiral Brass will remember this.)

Streams of gold and bright feathers flash in the orb, visions of past and future.

Atzocan Seer

{T}: Add one mana of any color.
Sacrifice Atzocan Seer: Return target Dinosaur card from your graveyard to your hand.

Atzocan Seer's second ability doesn't include the {T} symbol. You can activate that ability even if it's already been tapped, perhaps because you activated its first ability.

If an effect refers to a "[subtype] spell" or "[subtype] card," it refers only to a spell or card that has that subtype. For example, March of the Drowned is a card that benefits Pirates and features Pirates in its illustration, but it isn't a Pirate card.

Austere Command

Choose two —
• Destroy all artifacts.
• Destroy all enchantments.
• Destroy all creatures with mana value 3 or less.
• Destroy all creatures with mana value 4 or greater.

Each of the chosen modes happens sequentially. If a permanent has an ability that triggers whenever it or another permanent is destroyed, it will see permanents destroyed at the same time as it or before it, but not permanents destroyed by later modes.

If a card is exiled "until" another permanent leaves the battlefield, the exiled card returns to the battlefield immediately after that permanent leaves the battlefield during Austere Command's resolution, and it may be destroyed by a later mode.

If the first and last modes are chosen, an artifact creature with mana value 4 or greater will have to be regenerated twice to survive. This is because the modes happen sequentially, and the regeneration "shield" is used up by the first one. The same is true with any other combination of modes that covers one permanent twice.

Azure Fleet Admiral

When Azure Fleet Admiral enters the battlefield, you become the monarch.
Azure Fleet Admiral can't be blocked by creatures the monarch controls.

Azure Fleet Admiral's last ability normally means that it can't be blocked while attacking the monarch or a planeswalker the monarch controls. In some variants with shared team turns, such as Two-Headed Giant, creatures controlled by the monarch's teammate can block Azure Fleet Admiral, even if it's attacking the monarch.

If combat damage dealt to the monarch causes that player to lose the game, the triggered ability that causes the controller of the attacking creature to become the monarch doesn't resolve. In most cases, the controller of the attacking creature will still become the monarch as it is likely their turn.

If the monarch leaves the game during another player's turn, that player becomes the monarch. If the monarch leaves the game during their turn, the next player in turn order becomes the monarch.

If the triggered ability that causes the monarch to draw a card goes on the stack and a different player becomes the monarch before that ability resolves, the first player will still draw the card.

The game starts with no monarch. Once an effect makes one player the monarch, the game will have exactly one monarch from that point forward. As a player becomes the monarch, the current monarch (if any) ceases being the monarch.

There are two inherent triggered abilities associated with being the monarch. These triggered abilities have no source and are controlled by the player who was the monarch at the time the abilities triggered. The full texts of these abilities are "At the beginning of the monarch's end step, that player draws a card" and "Whenever a creature deals combat damage to the monarch, its controller becomes the monarch."

Beast Within

Destroy target permanent. Its controller creates a 3/3 green Beast creature token.

If the permanent is still a legal target but is not destroyed (perhaps because it regenerated or has indestructible), its controller still gets the Beast token.

If the target permanent is an illegal target by the time Beast Within tries to resolve, the spell won't resolve. No player creates a Beast token. If the target is legal but not destroyed (most likely because it has indestructible), its controller does create a Beast token.

Its roaring challenge is punctuated by the slam of its tail on the earth, rousing the herds of the plains.

Bellowing Aegisaur

Enrage — Whenever Bellowing Aegisaur is dealt damage, put a +1/+1 counter on each other creature you control.

If another creature you control is dealt lethal damage at the same time that Bellowing Aegisaur is dealt damage, the other creature won't be saved by the +1/+1 counter that would have been put on it.

If lethal damage is dealt to a creature with an enrage ability, that ability triggers. The creature with that enrage ability leaves the battlefield before that ability resolves, so it won't be affected by the resolving ability.

If multiple sources deal damage to a creature with an enrage ability at the same time, most likely because multiple creatures blocked that creature, the enrage ability triggers only once.

Benthic Biomancer

{1}{U}: Adapt 1. (If this creature has no +1/+1 counters on it, put a +1/+1 counter on it.)
Whenever one or more +1/+1 counters are put on Benthic Biomancer, draw a card, then discard a card.

An ability that triggers when counters are put on a permanent will trigger if that permanent somehow enters the battlefield with those counters.

If a creature somehow loses all of its +1/+1 counters, it can adapt again and get more +1/+1 counters.

You can always activate an ability that will cause a creature to adapt. As that ability resolves, if the creature has a +1/+1 counter on it for any reason, you simply won't put any +1/+1 counters on it.

You draw a card and discard a card all while Benthic Biomancer's triggered ability is resolving. Nothing can happen between the two, and no player may choose to take actions.

The wills of mortals shift as the tide ebbs and flows.

Bident of Thassa

Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, you may draw a card.
{1}{U}, {T}: Creatures your opponents control attack this turn if able.

If a creature can't attack for any reason (such as being tapped or having come under that player's control that turn), then it doesn't attack. If there's a cost associated with having a creature attack, the player isn't forced to pay that cost, so it doesn't have to attack in that case either.

The controller of each attacking creature still chooses which player or planeswalker that creature attacks.

Black Market Connections

At the beginning of your precombat main phase, choose one or more —
• Create a Treasure token. You lose 1 life.
• Draw a card. You lose 2 life.
• Create a 3/2 colorless Shapeshifter creature token with changeling. You lose 3 life. (It has every creature type.)

At the beginning of your precombat main phase, choose one or more —
• Sell Contraband — Create a Treasure token. You lose 1 life.
• Buy Information — Draw a card. You lose 2 life.
• Hire a Mercenary — Create a 3/2 colorless Shapeshifter creature token with changeling. You lose 3 life. (It has every creature type.)

Blade of the Bloodchief

Whenever a creature dies, put a +1/+1 counter on equipped creature. If equipped creature is a Vampire, put two +1/+1 counters on it instead.
Equip {1}

Blade of the Bloodchief's ability triggers regardless of who controlled the creature and whose graveyard it was put into.

If Blade of the Bloodchief leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, the counters are put on the creature it was attached to at the time it left the battlefield. If it wasn't attached to a creature at that time, nothing gets the counters.

If the equipped creature and another creature are dealt lethal damage at the same time, the equipped creature will be put into a graveyard before it would receive any counters.

If the equipped creature itself is put into a graveyard, Blade of the Bloodchief's ability will trigger. However, it won't do anything when it resolves unless a spell or ability has caused it to become attached to another creature by that time. (Remember that you may activate an equip ability only as a sorcery.)

The +1/+1 counters are put on the equipped creature, not Blade of the Bloodchief. If Blade of the Bloodchief is moved to a different creature, the +1/+1 counters will stay where they are.

The creature that gets the counters is the one that's equipped by Blade of the Bloodchief at the time the ability resolves. It doesn't matter what creature Blade of the Bloodchief was attached to (if any) when it triggered.

Blasphemous Act

This spell costs {1} less to cast for each creature on the battlefield.
Blasphemous Act deals 13 damage to each creature.

Although players may respond to Blasphemous Act once it's been cast, once it's announced, they can't respond before the cost is calculated and paid.

Blasphemous Act's ability can't reduce the total cost to cast the spell below {R}.

The total cost to cast Blasphemous Act is locked in before you pay that cost. For example, if there are three creatures on the battlefield, including one you can sacrifice to add {C} to your mana pool, the total cost of Blasphemous Act is {5}{R}. Then you can sacrifice the creature when you activate mana abilities just before paying the cost.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions (such as that of Blasphemous Act). The mana value of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.

Blood Artist

Whenever Blood Artist or another creature dies, target player loses 1 life and you gain 1 life.

If Blood Artist and one or more other creatures die at the same time, its ability will trigger for each of those creatures.

The more you have, the more you have to lose.

Blood Money

Destroy all creatures. For each nontoken creature destroyed this way, you create a tapped Treasure token.

If a creature isn't destroyed this way for some reason, such as having indestructible or being regenerated, Blood Money's controller will not create a Treasure token for it.

Bloodghast

Bloodghast can't block.
Bloodghast has haste as long as an opponent has 10 or less life.
Landfall — Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you may return Bloodghast from your graveyard to the battlefield.

Bloodghast's landfall ability triggers only if it's already in your graveyard at the time a land enters the battlefield under your control.

The landfall ability triggers whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control for any reason. It triggers whenever you play a land, as well as whenever a spell or ability (such as Rampant Growth) causes you to put a land onto the battlefield under your control. It will even trigger when a spell or ability causes another player to put a land onto the battlefield under your control (as can happen with Yavimaya Dryad's ability, for example).

When a land enters the battlefield under your control, each landfall ability of the permanents you control will trigger. You can put them on the stack in any order. The last ability you put on the stack will be the first one that resolves.

Bloodline Necromancer

When Bloodline Necromancer enters the battlefield, you may return target Vampire or Wizard creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield.

Bloodtracker

When Bloodtracker leaves the battlefield, draw a card for each +1/+1 counter on it.

If enough -1/-1 counters are put on Bloodtracker at the same time to make its toughness 0 or less, the number of +1/+1 counters on it before it got any -1/-1 counters will be used to determine how many cards you draw. For example, if there are three +1/+1 counters on Bloodtracker and it gets six -1/-1 counters, you'll draw three cards. That's because Bloodtracker's triggered ability checks the creature's existence just before it leaves the battlefield, and it still has all those counters on it at that point.

Bojuka Bog

Bojuka Bog enters the battlefield tapped.
When Bojuka Bog enters the battlefield, exile target player's graveyard.
{T}: Add {B}.

Branching Evolution

If one or more +1/+1 counters would be put on a creature you control, twice that many +1/+1 counters are put on that creature instead.

If a creature you control would enter the battlefield with a number of +1/+1 counters on it, it enters with twice that many instead.

If two or more effects attempt to modify how many counters would be put onto a creature you control, you choose the order to apply those effects, no matter who controls the sources of those effects.

If you control two Branching Evolutions, the number of +1/+1 counters put on a creature is four times the original number. Three Branching Evolutions multiplies the original number by eight, and so on.

Breeches, Brazen Plunderer

Menace
Whenever one or more Pirates you control deal damage to your opponents, exile the top card of each of those opponents' libraries. You may play those cards this turn, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast those spells.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)

An effect that checks whether you control your commander is satisfied if you control one or both of your two commanders.

Both commanders start in the command zone, and the remaining 98 cards (or 58 cards in a Commander Draft game) of your deck are shuffled to become your library.

If something refers to your commander while you have two commanders, it refers to one of them of your choice. If you are instructed to perform an action on your commander (e.g. put it from the command zone into your hand due to Command Beacon), you choose one of your commanders at the time the effect happens.

If you don't play one of the exiled cards, it remains exiled. It won't be available to be played on future turns.

If your Commander deck has two commanders, you can only include cards whose own color identities are also found in your commanders' combined color identities. If Falthis and Kediss are your commanders, your deck may contain cards with black and/or red in their color identity, but not cards with green, white, or blue.

In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well. If you leave the game, any spells and/or permanents you control from Breeches's brazen thievery are exiled.

Once the game begins, your two commanders are tracked separately. If you cast one, you won't have to pay an additional {2} the first time you cast the other. A player loses the game after having been dealt 21 damage from any one of them, not from both of them combined.

To have two commanders, both must have the partner ability as the game begins. Losing the ability during the game doesn't cause either to cease to be your commander.

You can choose two commanders with partner that are the same color or colors. In Commander Draft, you can even choose two of the same commander with partner if you drafted them. If you do this, make sure you keep the number of times you've cast each from the command zone clear for "commander tax" purposes.

You must follow the normal timing permissions and restrictions for each exiled card. If one is a land, you can't play it unless you have land plays available.

You'll exile a card from each opponent who was dealt damage, not from all of your opponents.

You'll still pay all costs for a spell cast this way, including additional costs. You may also pay alternative costs if any are available.

When they ran short on cannonballs, they went for the pots and pans.

Broadside Bombardiers

Menace, haste
Boast — Sacrifice another creature or artifact: Broadside Bombardiers deals damage equal to 2 plus the sacrificed permanent's mana value to any target.

A boast ability can be activated at any point after the creature with that ability has been declared as an attacker. This can be before blockers are declared, after blockers are declared but before combat damage is dealt, during combat after combat damage is dealt, during the postcombat main phase, during the end step, or, in some unusual cases, during the cleanup step.

If a creature with a boast ability is put onto the battlefield attacking, it was never declared as an attacker. Its boast ability can't be activated that turn.

If an effect adds additional combat phases to a turn and a creature with a boast ability attacks more than once during that turn, its boast ability can still be activated only once.

If it's not your turn and you gain control of a creature with a boast ability after that creature attacked, you can activate that creature's boast ability if it hasn't been activated yet that turn.

The back face of a double-faced card doesn't have a mana cost. A double-faced permanent with its back face up has a mana value equal to the mana value of its front face.

Bronzebeak Foragers

When Bronzebeak Foragers enters the battlefield, for each opponent, exile up to one target nonland permanent that player controls until Bronzebeak Foragers leaves the battlefield.
{X}{W}: Put target card with mana value X exiled with Bronzebeak Foragers into its owner's graveyard. You gain X life.
