A Premonition of Your Demise

When you set this scheme in motion, reveal the top two cards of your library and put them into your hand. When you reveal one or more nonland cards this way, this scheme deals damage equal to their total mana value to any target.

If the mana cost of a card revealed this way includes {X}, X is 0 for the purpose of determining its mana value.

You don't choose a target for A Premonition of Your Demise at the time its ability triggers. Rather, a second "reflexive" ability triggers when you reveal one or more nonland cards this way. You choose a target for that ability as it goes on the stack. Each player may respond to this triggered ability as normal.

They say every inhabitant vanished in a single night, leaving their belongings untouched but curiously covered in moths.

Abandoned Campground

Abandoned Campground enters tapped unless a player has 13 or less life.
{T}: Add {W} or {U}.

If one of these lands is entering at the same time as a "shock land" (a cycle of lands originally from Ravnica block that allow you to pay life or have them enter tapped), use the life totals of all players before choices are made for that shock land's replacement effect to determine whether or not the land enters tapped. For example, if a Lakeside Shack and a Breeding Pool you control are entering at the same time (perhaps because of the effect of a spell like Scapeshift), your life total is 14, and your opponent's life total is 20, the Lakeside Shack will enter tapped whether or not you choose to pay life as Breeding Pool enters.

Abhorrent Oculus

As an additional cost to cast this spell, exile six cards from your graveyard.
Flying
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, manifest dread. (Look at the top two cards of your library. Put one onto the battlefield face down as a 2/2 creature and the other into your graveyard. Turn it face up any time for its mana cost if it's a creature card.)

A permanent that turns face up or face down changes characteristics but is otherwise the same permanent. Spells and abilities that were targeting that permanent and Auras and Equipment that were attached to that permanent aren't affected unless the new characteristics of the object change the legality of those targets or attachments.

Abhorrent Oculus's additional cost must be paid even if it's cast "without paying its mana cost" or for any alternative cost.

Any time you have priority, you can turn a manifested permanent you control face up by revealing that it's a creature card (ignoring any copy effects or type-changing effects that might be applying to it) and paying its mana cost. This is a special action. It doesn't use the stack and can't be responded to.

At any time, you can look at a face-down spell or permanent you control. You can't look at face-down permanents or spells you don't control unless an effect instructs or allows you to do so.

Because face-down creatures don't have a name, they can't have the same name as any other creature, even another face-down creature.

Because the permanent is on the battlefield both before and after it's turned face up, turning a permanent face up doesn't cause any enters-the-battlefield abilities to trigger.

If a double-faced card is manifested, it will be put onto the battlefield face down. While face down, it can't transform. If the front face of the card is a creature card, you can turn it face up by paying its mana cost. If you do, its front face will be up.

If a face-down creature loses its abilities, it can't be turned face up with a disguise or morph ability because it will no longer have that ability (or the associated cost) once face up.

If a face-down spell leaves the stack and goes to any zone other than the battlefield (if it was countered, for example), you must reveal it. Similarly, if a face-down permanent leaves the battlefield, you must reveal it. You must also reveal all face-down spells and permanents you control if you leave the game or the game ends.

If a manifested creature would have disguise or morph if it were face up, you may also turn it face up by paying its disguise or morph cost, as appropriate.

If something tries to turn a face-down instant or sorcery card on the battlefield face up, reveal that card to show all players it's an instant or sorcery card. The permanent remains on the battlefield face down. Abilities that trigger when a permanent turns face up won't trigger, because even though you revealed the card, it never turned face up.

If your library contains only one card when you manifest dread, you'll look at that card and put it onto the battlefield face down. You won't have the option to put it into your graveyard instead. If your library contains no cards when you manifest dread, you won't do anything.

Some cards in the Duskmourn release have abilities that trigger "whenever you manifest dread." In circumstances where you are instructed to manifest dread but can't perform some or all of the steps of manifesting dread (probably because your library has one or fewer cards in it), these abilities will still trigger.

To manifest dread, look at the top two cards of your library. Manifest one (by putting it onto the battlefield face down) and put the other into your graveyard. The card you put onto the battlefield becomes a 2/2 face-down creature with no name, mana cost, creature types, or abilities. It's colorless and has a mana value of 0. Other effects that apply to the permanent can still grant it any characteristics it doesn't have or change the characteristics it does have.

Turning a permanent face up or face down doesn't change whether that permanent is tapped or untapped.

Unlike a face-down creature that was cast using a disguise or morph ability, a manifested creature may still be turned face up after it loses its abilities if it's a creature card.

You must ensure that your face-down spells and permanents can be easily differentiated from each other. You're not allowed to mix up the cards that represent them on the battlefield to confuse other players. The order in which they entered should remain clear, as well as what ability caused them to be face down. (This includes manifest, disguise, cloak, morph, and a few older effects that turn cards face down.) Common methods for doing this include using markers or dice, or simply placing them in order on the battlefield.

As an additional cost to cast this spell, exile six cards from your graveyard.
Flying
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, manifest dread.

Acrobatic Cheerleader

Survival — At the beginning of your second main phase, if Acrobatic Cheerleader is tapped, put a flying counter on it. This ability triggers only once.

If Acrobatic Cheerleader leaves the battlefield and then returns, it's a new object with no memory of its previous existence. Its ability will be able to trigger again.

If a creature with a survival ability isn't tapped when your second main phase begins, the ability won't trigger at all. You won't be able to tap it during your second main phase in time to have that ability trigger.

If a creature's survival ability triggers but that creature is untapped when the ability begins to resolve, that ability won't do anything.

If a creature's survival ability triggers but the creature leaves the battlefield before the ability resolves, use its tapped or untapped status as it last existed on the battlefield to determine whether or not the ability will do anything.

Once Acrobatic Cheerleader's ability triggers, it won't trigger again as long as it remains on the battlefield, even if the triggered ability is countered or the flying counter is somehow removed. If an effect would cause Acrobatic Cheerleader's ability to trigger again, that part of the effect won't do anything.

Survival abilities (and other abilities that trigger at the beginning of your second main phase) will trigger at the beginning of the second main phase you take in a turn. They won't trigger during your third, fourth, or other additional main phases in a single turn, if effects somehow cause you to have more than two main phases.

Left barren by the Brothers' War, it stands as a stark reminder of Dominaria's likely fate should the Coalition fail.

Adarkar Wastes

You may play an additional land on each of your turns.
Landfall — Whenever a land you control enters, you may draw a card.

Aesi's ability is cumulative with other effects that let you play additional lands, such as the one from Exploration.

The militia formed up in the central plaza awaiting the onslaught, but the giants never quite made it.

Aether Gale

Return six target nonland permanents to their owners' hands.

You must choose six different legal targets in order to cast Aether Gale. If some, but not all, of those targets become illegal before Aether Gale resolves, the remaining legal targets will be put into their owners' hands.

Altanak, the Thrice-Called

Trample
Whenever Altanak, the Thrice-Called becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, draw a card.
{1}{G}, Discard Altanak, the Thrice-Called: Return target land card from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.

Altanak's second ability resolves before the spell or ability that caused it to trigger. It resolves even if that spell or ability is countered or otherwise leaves the stack without resolving.

If a spell or ability targets Altanak more than once, its second ability still triggers only once.

Aminatou's Augury

Exile the top eight cards of your library. You may put a land card from among them onto the battlefield. Until end of turn, for each nonland card type, you may cast a spell of that type from among the exiled cards without paying its mana cost.

Casting an exiled card causes it to leave exile. You can't cast it multiple times.

If a nonland card has multiple types, such as an artifact creature, you may cast it as either of those types. For example, you could cast one artifact creature as your artifact card and another artifact creature as your creature card.

If a spell has {X} in its mana cost, you must choose 0 as the value of X when casting it without paying its mana cost.

If you cast a card "without paying its mana cost," you can't choose to cast it for any alternative costs, such as evoke costs. You can, however, pay additional costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, such as that of Tormenting Voice, those must be paid to cast the card.

If you exile a land with another card type, you can't play it later in the turn. You can only put it onto the battlefield at the time Aminatou's Augury instructs you to.

If you wish to put a land card onto the battlefield, you do so while Aminatou's Augury is resolving, before you're allowed to cast any of the other cards. You may do this even if you've already played a land this turn.

You must follow the normal timing permissions and restrictions of each spell you cast.

Aminatou, Veil Piercer

At the beginning of your upkeep, surveil 2. (Look at the top two cards of your library, then put any number of them into your graveyard and the rest on top of your library in any order.)
Each enchantment card in your hand has miracle. Its miracle cost is equal to its mana cost reduced by {4}. (You may cast a card for its miracle cost when you draw it if it's the first card you drew this turn.)

If an effect puts a card into your hand without using the word "draw," the card wasn't drawn.

If the card with miracle leaves your hand before the triggered ability resolves, you won't be able to cast it using its miracle ability.

It's important to reveal a card with miracle before it is mixed with the other cards in your hand.

Miracle is an alternative cost to cast the spell with miracle. It can't be combined with other alternative costs, such as casting a spell "without paying its mana cost." You may, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker. If the spell has any mandatory additional costs, those must be paid to cast the spell.

Multiple card draws are always treated as a sequence of individual card draws. For example, if you haven't drawn any cards yet during a turn and cast a spell that instructs you to draw three cards, you'll draw them one at a time. Only the first card drawn this way may be revealed and cast using its miracle ability.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a miracle cost) you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.

You can cast a card for its miracle cost only as the miracle triggered ability resolves. If you don't want to cast it at that time (or you can't cast it, perhaps because there are no legal targets available), you won't be able to cast it later for the miracle cost.

You can reveal and cast a card with miracle on any turn, not just your own, if it's the first card you've drawn that turn.

You cast the card with miracle during the resolution of the triggered ability. Ignore any timing rules based on the card's type.

You don't have to reveal a drawn card with miracle if you don't wish to cast it at that time.

You still draw the card, whether you use the miracle ability or not. Any ability that triggers whenever you draw a card, for example, will trigger. If you don't cast the card using its miracle ability, it will remain in your hand.

Where it treads, plants wither. Where it breathes, poison spreads.

Ancient Cellarspawn

Each spell you cast that's a Demon, Horror, or Nightmare costs {1} less to cast.
Whenever you cast a spell, if the amount of mana spent to cast it was less than its mana value, target opponent loses life equal to the difference.

Ancient Cellarspawn's last ability resolves before the spell that caused it to trigger. It resolves even if that spell is countered.

For spells with {X} in their mana costs, use the value chosen for X to determine the spell's mana value.

If the spell is no longer on the stack when Ancient Cellarspawn's last ability resolves, use its mana value as it last existed on the stack.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell remains unchanged, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.

Anguished Recollection

Discard a card. If you do, seek two cards that don't share a card type with the discarded card.

The touch of its many hands is almost gentle, at first. But then the grip tightens, and the mandibles dig in.

Anthropede

Reach
When Anthropede enters, you may discard a card or pay {2}. When you do, destroy target Room.

You don't choose a target for Anthropede's last ability at the time it triggers. Rather, a second "reflexive" ability triggers when you discard a card or pay {2} this way. You choose a target for that ability as it goes on the stack. Each player may respond to this triggered ability as normal.

It moves with the speed of a spider but none of its skittering grace, scuttling to the sound of mucus-covered fingers.

Appendage Amalgam

Flash
Whenever Appendage Amalgam attacks, surveil 1. (Look at the top card of your library. You may put it into your graveyard.)

Every night, Cori threw the unsettling doll away. Every morning, it was back on the shelf, its eyes following her every move.

Arabella, Abandoned Doll

Whenever Arabella, Abandoned Doll attacks, it deals X damage to each opponent and you gain X life, where X is the number of creatures you control with power 2 or less.

The value of X is determined only once, as Arabella's ability resolves.

Every movement is a summons—even your screams.

Arachnogenesis

Create X 1/2 green Spider creature tokens with reach, where X is the number of creatures attacking you. Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn by non-Spider creatures.

Arcane Denial

Counter target spell. Its controller may draw up to two cards at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep.
You draw a card at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep.

The controller of the countered spell doesn't choose how many cards to draw until the relevant ability resolves. The player may draw 0, 1, or 2 cards. They choose the number before drawing any cards.

Arcane Signet

If you don't have a commander, Arcane Signet's ability produces no mana.

If you have two commanders, the ability adds one mana of any color in their combined color identities.

If your commander is a card that has no colors in its color identity, Arcane Signet's ability produces no mana. It doesn't produce {C}.

Archetype of Imagination

Creatures you control have flying.
Creatures your opponents control lose flying and can't have or gain flying.

Conversely, continuous effects generated by static abilities (such as an Aura that granted the appropriate ability) would resume applying if the Archetype left the battlefield.

If you and an opponent each control the same Archetype, no creature controlled by any player will have the appropriate ability.

The Archetype's second ability applies to each creature controlled by any of your opponents, no matter when it entered the battlefield.

While you control an Archetype, continuous effects generated by the resolution of spells and abilities that would give the specified ability to creatures your opponents control aren't created. For example, if you control Archetype of Courage, a spell cast by an opponent that gives creatures they control first strike wouldn't cause the creatures to have first strike, even if later in the turn Archetype of Courage left the battlefield. (If the spell has additional effects, such as raising the power of the creatures, those effects will apply as normal.)

Archon of Cruelty

Flying
Whenever Archon of Cruelty enters or attacks, target opponent sacrifices a creature or planeswalker, discards a card, and loses 3 life. You draw a card and gain 3 life.

You and the opponent you target take all the actions in the order listed. Notably, the creature or planeswalker they sacrifice won't be on the battlefield as they discard a card or lose life. If any abilities trigger, they will wait to be put on the stack until after the spell resolves. If any abilities controlled by that opponent trigger but losing 3 life causes them to lose the game, none of those abilities will be put on the stack.

Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle

Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle enters tapped with five slumber counters on it.
As long as Arixmethes has a slumber counter on it, it's a land. (It's not a creature.)
Whenever you cast a spell, you may remove a slumber counter from Arixmethes.

Arixmethes can tap for mana the turn it enters the battlefield as long as it has slumber counters on it. If you can figure out how to untap it, that is.

Arixmethes isn't a land until after it has entered the battlefield. Effects such as that of Blood Moon won't affect its enters-the-battlefield ability. Similarly, replacement effects that modify how creatures you control enter the battlefield will see Arixmethes entering as a creature rather than a land. However, triggered abilities (such as landfall abilities) will see that a land has entered the battlefield and not a creature.

Arixmethes's effect causing it to be a land overwrites any earlier effects that gave it additional types. For example, a Phyrexian Metamorph that copies Arixmethes will be a land, not an artifact land, until its slumber counters are removed.

Arixmethes's triggered ability resolves before the spell that caused it to trigger, but after targets have been chosen for that spell. It resolves even if that spell is countered.

Once Arixmethes is a creature again, it can attack on the same turn as long as you've controlled it since your most recent turn began.

While Arixmethes is a land, it's still green and blue, it's still legendary, and its mana value is still 4.

Arvinox, the Mind Flail

Arvinox, the Mind Flail isn't a creature unless you control three or more permanents you don't own.
At the beginning of your end step, exile the bottom card of each opponent's library face down. For as long as those cards remain exiled, you may look at them, you may cast permanent spells from among them, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast those spells.

Ash Barrens

Ashaya, Soul of the Wild

Ashaya, Soul of the Wild's power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control.
Nontoken creatures you control are Forest lands in addition to their other types. (They're still affected by summoning sickness.)

A land that's a Forest has the intrinsic mana ability "{T}: Add {G}."

As long as Ashaya is on the battlefield, it's affected by its second ability and thus its first ability counts itself.

Because damage remains marked on a creature until the damage is removed as the turn ends, nonlethal damage dealt to Ashaya may become lethal if lands you control leave the battlefield during that turn.

The ability that defines Ashaya's power and toughness applies in all zones, not just the battlefield.

You can't play creature cards as lands; you'll still have to cast them as spells, and they'll enter the battlefield as lands (in addition to their other types).

Athreos, Shroud-Veiled

Indestructible
As long as your devotion to white and black is less than seven, Athreos isn't a creature.
At the beginning of your end step, put a coin counter on another target creature.
Whenever a creature with a coin counter on it dies or is put into exile, return that card to the battlefield under your control.

As a God enters the battlefield, your devotion to its color will determine whether any replacement effects that affect creatures entering the battlefield apply to that God. Because replacement effects are considered before the God is on the battlefield, the mana symbols in its mana cost won't be counted when determining this.

Colorless and generic mana symbols ({C}, {0}, {1}, {2}, {X}, and so on) in mana costs of permanents you control don't count toward your devotion to any color.

Counters put on a God remain on it while it's not a creature, even if they have no effect.

Hybrid mana symbols, monocolored hybrid mana symbols, and Phyrexian mana symbols do count toward your devotion to their color(s).

If Athreos and a creature with a coin counter on it are both put into graveyards and/or exiled at the same time, the other creature will be returned to the battlefield.

If Athreos leaves the battlefield, creatures with coin counters on them keep them. The counters won't have any meaning or effect unless another Athreos is on the battlefield later.

If Athreos somehow gets a coin counter on itself, its last ability will return it when it dies or is exiled.

If a God is attacking or blocking and it stops being a creature, it will be removed from combat. It won't rejoin combat if it resumes being a creature later during that combat.

If a God stops being a creature, it loses the type creature and the creature type God. It continues to be a legendary enchantment.

If a creature with a coin counter on it is put into a graveyard or exile but leaves that zone before Athreos's last ability resolves, that card stays in its new zone, even if that zone is also a graveyard or exile. You don't return it to the battlefield.

If a creature with a coin counter on it stops being a creature, it keeps its coin counter, but Athreos's last ability won't trigger when that permanent dies or is exiled unless it's a creature again by that time.

If a creature you don't own has a coin counter on it, that permanent will return to the battlefield under your control when it dies or is exiled while you control Athreos. In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well. If you leave the game, any creatures you control from Athreos's ability are exiled.

If a token with a coin counter on it dies or is exiled, Athreos's last ability triggers, but won't return it to the battlefield.

If an activated ability or triggered ability has an effect that depends on your devotion to a color, you count the number of mana symbols of that color among the mana costs of permanents you control as the ability resolves. The permanent with that ability will be counted if it's still on the battlefield at that time.

If an effect causes a God to lose all abilities, its ability that causes it to stop being a creature still applies if appropriate.

If an effect exiles a creature with a coin counter on it and immediately returns it to the battlefield, Athreos's last ability triggers but will have no effect. If an effect exiles a creature with a coin counter on it and would return it to the battlefield at a later time, Athreos's last ability will return that card to the battlefield and it won't be returned later.

If you put an Aura on an opponent's permanent, you still control the Aura, and mana symbols in its mana cost count towards your devotion.

In a two-player game, if both players control an Athreos when a creature with a coin counter on it dies, the nonactive player (the one whose turn it isn't) will return the creature under their control. If that happens in a multiplayer game, the nonactive player closest to the right of the player whose turn it is will return the creature under their control.

Mana symbols in the text boxes of permanents you control don't count toward your devotion to any color.

The abilities of Gods function as long as they're on the battlefield, regardless of whether they're creatures.

The creature returns to the battlefield without a coin counter on it.

The type-changing ability that can make a God not be a creature functions only on the battlefield. It's always a creature card in other zones, regardless of your devotion to its color. It's always a creature spell while it's on the stack.

When a God enters the battlefield, your devotion to its color (including the mana symbols in the mana cost of the God itself) will determine if a creature entered the battlefield or not for abilities that trigger whenever a creature enters the battlefield.

Your devotion to two colors is the number of mana symbols among mana costs of permanents you control that are the first color, the second, or both. If an effect counts your devotion to two colors, a hybrid symbol that is both of those colors is counted just once.

Attack-in-the-Box

Whenever Attack-in-the-Box attacks, you may have it get +4/+0 until end of turn. If you do, sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.

Augur of Autumn

You may look at the top card of your library any time.
You may play lands from the top of your library.
Coven — As long as you control three or more creatures with different powers, you may cast creature spells from the top of your library.

 A creature has different power from another if their powers are different numbers. For example, a 1/1 creature and a 2/1 creature have different powers.

 For three creatures to have different powers from one another, each of their powers needs to be different. A 1/1 creature, a 2/1 creature, and another 2/1 creature aren't three creatures with different powers, even though both 2/1 creatures have different power than the 1/1 creature.

 Many coven abilities, such as that of Dawnhart Wardens above, are triggered abilities with intervening if clauses. You must control three or more creatures with different powers at the time the ability triggers and at the time the ability tries to resolve. They do not, however, need to be the same set of creatures in both cases.

Augur of Autumn doesn't change the times when you can play a land card from the top of your library. You can play a land only during your main phase when you have priority and the stack is empty. Doing so counts as your land play for the turn.

Essentially, Augur of Autumn lets you play with the top card of your library revealed only to you. Knowing what that card is becomes part of the information you have access to, just like you can look at the cards in your hand. You may look at the top card of your library whenever you want, even if you don't have priority. This action doesn't use the stack.

If the top card of your library changes during the process of casting a spell or activating an ability, you can't look at the new top card until the process of casting the spell or activating the ability ends (all targets are chosen, all costs are paid, and so on).

The top card of your library isn't in your hand, so you can't suspend it, cycle it, discard it, or activate any of its activated abilities.

While you have three creatures with different powers, Augur of Autumn allows you to cast the top card of your library if it's a creature card, it's your main phase, and the stack is empty. If that creature card has flash, you'll be able to cast it any time you could cast an instant, even on an opponent's turn.

You still pay all costs for that spell, including additional costs. You may also pay alternative costs.

Auramancer

When Auramancer enters, you may return target enchantment card from your graveyard to your hand.

Azorius Chancery

Azorius Chancery enters tapped.
When Azorius Chancery enters, return a land you control to its owner's hand.

If this land enters the battlefield and you control no other lands, its ability will force you to return it to your hand.

The maze-like design embodies the core of Azorius law—strict structure designed to test wills and stall change.

Azorius Signet

Adapted to feed on dead flesh, it's not averse to making its own when no corpses are available.

Balemurk Leech

Eerie — Whenever an enchantment you control enters and whenever you fully unlock a Room, each opponent loses 1 life.

An ability that triggers "whenever you fully unlock a Room" triggers when a door becomes unlocked and the other door of that Room is already unlocked, or when both doors of that Room become unlocked simultaneously.

If a permanent with an eerie ability enters at the same time as one or more enchantments, its ability will trigger for each of those enchantments.

Balustrade Wurm

This spell can't be countered.
Trample, haste
Delirium — {2}{G}{G}: Return Balustrade Wurm from your graveyard to the battlefield with a finality counter on it. Activate only if there are four or more card types among cards in your graveyard and only as a sorcery.

Finality counters aren't keyword counters, and a finality counter doesn't give any abilities to the permanent it's on. If that permanent loses its abilities and then would go to a graveyard, it will still be exiled instead.

Finality counters don't stop permanents from going to zones other than the graveyard from the battlefield. For example, if a permanent with a finality counter on it would be put into its owner's hand from the battlefield, it does so normally.

If a permanent with a finality counter on it would be put into a graveyard from the battlefield, exile it instead.

Multiple finality counters on a single permanent are redundant.
