Ashes to Ashes

If both of the targeted creatures are illegal targets by the time Ashes to Ashes resolves, it’s countered. It doesn’t deal 5 damage to you.

If one of the targeted creatures is an illegal target by the time Ashes to Ashes resolves, it still exiles the other one and deals 5 damage to you.

Exile two target nonartifact creatures. Ashes to Ashes deals 5 damage to you.

Ball Lightning

Trample
Ball Lightning may attack on the turn during which it is summoned. Ball Lightning is buried at the end of the turn during which it is summoned.

The creature is sacrificed at the end of every turn in which it is on the battlefield. There is no choice about what turn to sacrifice it.

Trample (This creature can deal excess combat damage to the player or planeswalker it's attacking.)
Haste (This creature can attack and {T} as soon as it comes under your control.)

Barl's Cage

Does not prevent a creature from untapping at other times. It just stops the “normal” untap during the untap step.

Barl’s Cage doesn’t track the creature’s controller. If the affected creature changes controllers before its old controller’s next untap step, this ability will prevent it from being untapped during its new controller’s next untap step.

If the targeted creature is untapped at the time its controller’s next untap step begins, this ability has no effect. It won’t apply at some later time when the targeted creature is tapped.

You may target any creature with this ability. It doesn’t have to be tapped.

Blood Moon

All non-basic lands are now basic mountains.

If a nonbasic land has an ability that causes it to enter the battlefield tapped, it will lose that ability before it can apply. The same is also true of any other abilities that modify how a land enters the battlefield or apply "as" a land enters the battlefield, such as the first ability of Cavern of Souls.

If a nonbasic land has an ability that triggers "when" it enters the battlefield, it will lose that ability before it can trigger.

Nonbasic lands will lose any other land types and abilities they had. They will gain the land type Mountain and gain the ability "{T}: Add {R}."

This effect doesn't affect names or supertypes. It won't turn any land into a basic land or remove the legendary supertype from a legendary land, and the lands won't be named "Mountain."

The willow knows what the storm does not: that the power to endure harm outlives the power to inflict it.

Blood of the Martyr

For the remainder of the turn, you may redirect damage done to any number of creatures to yourself instead.

Until end of turn, if damage would be dealt to any creature, you may have that damage dealt to you instead.

On guard for larger dangers, we underestimated the power and speed of the Imp's muck-crusted claws.

Bog Imp

Paying this cost is not an instant or any other kind of ability, it is an additional cost on the declaration of the attacker.

This ability is paid for during the declare attackers step of the combat phase.

When Dance of Many is brought into play, choose a target summon card in play. Then put a token creature in play and treat it as if you have just brought an exact copy of target summon card into play. Destroying the creature that was copied will not cause the token creature to be destroyed as well.

Each Dance of Many is associated only with its token creature. If one Dance leaves the battlefield, only the corresponding token is affected, not all tokens from all instances of Dance of Many.

The ability is targeted and checks the validity of the target when put on the stack and when resolving. If the creature is not still there when the copy ability resolves, the ability doesn't resolve and no token is put onto the battlefield. This card remains on the battlefield as an enchantment with no token.

Treat the token as entering as a copy of the chosen creature. If that creature normally gets counters when entering, the token creature gets counters.

If Dance of Many leaves the battlefield before its first ability has resolved, its second ability will trigger and do nothing. Then its first ability will resolve and put a token onto the battlefield. That token won't have any connection to a Dance of Many permanent, so it won't be exiled when a Dance of Many leaves the battlefield.

When Dance of Many enters, create a token that's a copy of target nontoken creature.
When Dance of Many leaves the battlefield, exile the token.
When the token leaves the battlefield, sacrifice Dance of Many.
At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Dance of Many unless you pay {U}{U}.

Dark Sphere

If two or more of these effects would apply, you apply them sequentially. If one target is removed or becomes invalid after declaration, the other target is still affected.

Even the putrid muscles of the dead can provide strength to those loathsome enough to consume them.

Eater of the Dead

It untaps during the resolution of its ability.

You can activate the ability whether or not Eater of the Dead is tapped. However, if Eater of the Dead is untapped when the ability resolves, the ability won’t do anything.

{0}: If Eater of the Dead is tapped, exile target creature card from a graveyard and untap Eater of the Dead.

Electric Eel

Eternal Flame

Eternal Flame does an amount of damage to your opponent equal to the number of mountains you control, but it also does half that amount of damage to you, rounding up.

Eternal Flame deals X damage to target opponent or planeswalker and half X damage, rounded up, to you, where X is the number of Mountains you control.

Though they often bore little greater charm than the demons they battled, exorcists were always welcome in Scarwood.

Fasting

You may choose to skip your draw phase; if you do so, you gain 2 life. If you draw a card for any reason, Fasting is destroyed. During your upkeep, put a hunger counter on Fasting. When Fasting has five hunger counters on it, it is destroyed.

When you resolve the beginning-of-upkeep triggered ability, you first put a hunger counter on Fasting, then you check how many hunger counters it has. If there are five or more, Fasting is destroyed.

You choose whether or not to skip your draw step as that step begins. This ability is now separate from the beginning-of-upkeep triggered ability.

At the beginning of your upkeep, put a hunger counter on Fasting. Then destroy Fasting if it has five or more hunger counters on it.
If you would begin your draw step, you may skip that step instead. If you do, you gain 2 life.
When you draw a card, destroy Fasting.

Fellwar Stone

T: Add 1 mana to your mana pool. This mana may be of any color that any of opponent's lands can produce. This ability is played as an interrupt.

It only produces one mana even if the land can produce more than one.

The ability can be activated if the opponent has no lands that produce mana, but the effect will not be able to generate any mana.

This works even if the opponent's lands are tapped. It only checks what kinds of mana can be produced, not if the abilities that produce them are usable right now.

Fellwar Stone checks the effects of all mana-producing abilities of lands your opponents control, but it doesn't check their costs. For example, Vivid Crag has the ability "{T}, Remove a charge counter from Vivid Crag: Add one mana of any color." If an opponent controls Vivid Crag and you control Fellwar Stone, you can tap Fellwar Stone for any color of mana. It doesn't matter whether Vivid Crag has a charge counter on it, and it doesn't matter whether it's untapped.

Fellwar Stone doesn't care about any restrictions or riders your opponents' lands (such as Ancient Ziggurat or Hall of the Bandit Lord) put on the mana they produce. It just cares about colors of mana.

The colors of mana are white, blue, black, red, and green. Fellwar Stone can't be tapped for colorless mana, even if a land an opponent controls could produce colorless mana.

When determining what colors of mana your opponents' lands could produce, take into account any applicable replacement effects that would apply to those lands' mana abilities (such as Contamination's effect, for example). If there is more than one, consider them in any possible order.

{T}: Add one mana of any color that a land an opponent controls could produce.

Only after the townsfolk had drawn us into their merry celebration did we discover that their holiday rituals held a deeper purpose.

Festival

Opponent may not declare an attack this turn. Play during opponent's upkeep phase.

When Frankenstein's Monster is brought into play, if you do not take X creatures from your graveyard and remove them from the game, Frankenstein's Monster is countered. For each creature removed from your graveyard in this way, you may choose to give Frankenstein's Monster a permanent +2/+0, +1/+1, or +0/+2.

X can be any number and it does not have to match the total contents of your graveyard.

As Frankenstein's Monster enters, exile X creature cards from your graveyard. If you can't, put Frankenstein's Monster into its owner's graveyard instead of onto the battlefield. For each creature card exiled this way, Frankenstein's Monster enters with a +2/+0, +1/+1, or +0/+2 counter on it.

Gaea's Touch

You may put one additional land in play during each of your turns, but that land must be a basic forest. You may sacrifice Gaea's Touch to add o

The land enters the battlefield directly from your hand, but it is not “played”. This means it does not count towards the number of lands played this turn and doesn’t trigger abilities that would trigger if the Forest had been played.

Ghost Ship

Giant Shark

If Giant Shark blocks or is blocked by a creature that has taken damage this turn, Giant Shark gains +2/+0 and trample until end of turn. Giant Shark cannot attack unless opponent controls at least one island. Giant Shark is buried immediately if at any time controller controls no islands.

Giant Shark gets the bonus once for each creature it blocks or is blocked by that meets the criteria.

Giant Shark only gains its bonus if the blocking creature was damaged before blocking was declared. Damaging the creature later will not give the Shark the bonus.

If a creature enters a blocking situation with the Giant Shark due to being part of a banded group of attackers, the Shark will get the bonus if that creature is damaged at that time.

The bonus happens when a previously damaged creature becomes a blocker and the bonus is not removed if that creature is removed from the blocking situation by any means.

Giant Shark can't attack unless defending player controls an Island.
Whenever Giant Shark blocks or becomes blocked by a creature that has been dealt damage this turn, Giant Shark gets +2/+0 and gains trample until end of turn.
When you control no Islands, sacrifice Giant Shark.
